Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays there is a ongoing valid argument about the importance of History or Science & technology in the school subjects. Some say History is important, where others put more emphasize on Science and technology. Although, History teaches us about our origin and our past struggles, in my view Science & technology holds more value because it helps us to move forward and become much more advanced civilization.
On one hand, History is one of the most importance teachings in school because it teaches us about our past and gives us chance to create a better future for us. This is due to the fact that, people usually learns from their past mistake. They usually analyze their mistake and struggles of their previous generations and try minimize it in their life. Therefore, it helps them to create better situation in their upcoming days. For instance, people in Germany took the teachings of the severe effect of World War II, which made them more responsible for their actions. Fast forward today, Germany is now one of the most advanced economically developed country in the world.
On the other hand, Science & technology is much more valuable to ensure a better future, as it helps us to discover and innovate new technologies. This is because, Science improves people's critical thinking and nurture their ability of problem solving which helps them to constantly discover new ideas. Furthermore, It helps the human civilization to become more advanced and invent new innovations. For example, people are now planning to settle down on mars after exploring the moon a few decades ago which was one of the most peak form of human science. All this achievement thanks to the teachings of Science & technology.
In conclusion, even though History teaches us about our past but science & technology helps us to survive and discover new things in this world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task. You have discussed both views and provided a clear personal opinion in the introduction. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of Germany's history and the exploration of Mars. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the link between history and 'minimizing mistakes' is a good point, but it could be expanded with more depth. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have summarized the main arguments more effectively to reinforce your position. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central topic, and you use cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For example, the phrase 'All this achievement thanks to the teachings of Science & technology' is a bit abrupt and lacks a smooth connection to the previous sentence. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'innovate', 'economically developed', and 'critical thinking'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'most importance teachings' (should be 'most important subjects') and 'one of the most peak form' (should be 'one of the peak forms' or 'a pinnacle'). Additionally, there is some repetition of basic words like 'teachings' and 'mistake'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'a ongoing valid argument' (should be 'an ongoing'), 'people usually learns' (should be 'people usually learn'), and 'one of the most advanced economically developed country' (should be 'countries'). There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and article errors would significantly improve your accuracy.
