Student answer (Band 5.5)
History is more often considered an essential school subject because it helps students understand about history of world. However Some people believe Science and technology are more important than History. Although both views have merit, I believe that science and technology deserve greater importance in modern education, while history should still remain part of the course.
On the one hand ,studying history helps students understand the past and learn from the previous mistakes. it helps students to get knowledge about the war, economical issues ,the previous debates from how there country is formed. Also from history we understand about our culture and traditional.
On the other hand ,studying Science and technology is more important in modern life. Scientific knowledge helps in healthcare, agriculture and medicine. While technology is now used in every field of our life that is educational, businesses, and even in medicines. Students who have studied Science subjects and computer science can develop skills that help them in their future.
In my opinion both history and science are important but science and technology should have more attention in schools. This is because the world is becoming more dependent on technology, and students need modern skills to succeed in their careers. However, history should not be removed because it helps students understand the past and learn from it.
In the conclusion history help to understand about past and culture. While science and technology help in learn more skills and help students to succeed in the career. I believe both should be taught in schools. but science and technology are more important for modern life but history should also not removed because it is also important to everyone to know.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal position throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of healthcare and agriculture for science, and the importance of learning from past mistakes for history. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the arguments in the body paragraphs could be extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit redundant, restating points already made without adding new insight. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of argument is consistent with a band 6 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In my opinion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed, particularly in the conclusion where the sentences are somewhat fragmented. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'economical issues', 'healthcare', and 'traditional'. However, there are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'get knowledge about the war' (gain knowledge), 'traditional' used as a noun (tradition), and 'in learn more skills' (in learning). The range is sufficient to communicate, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the history of world', 'how there country is formed'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For instance, 'However Some people' lacks a comma, and 'history should also not removed' is grammatically incorrect. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on article usage and ensuring that passive constructions are formed correctly.
