Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the arguments regarding history are vague, mentioning 'great kingdom achievement' without specific context, and the points on science are similarly underdeveloped. The conclusion attempts to balance both views but lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more specific, well-supported examples and ensure that your arguments are fully extended rather than just stated. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence is insufficient to fully explore the complexities of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To explain it' and 'To elaborate it' are used repetitively, and some transitions, such as 'looking to the medieval knowledge', are awkward and do not effectively link ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making the progression of arguments feel disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. You frequently use word forms incorrectly, such as 'chronicle subjects' instead of 'historical subjects' and 'personal authorities' instead of 'individual rights'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'book prints' and 'scholars mind information', which sound unnatural. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic or incorrectly used vocabulary prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and ensuring correct word forms is essential.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'scientific systematic subject tell about') and tense usage (e.g., 'technology information was much imperative'). Sentence structures are often simple or fragmented, and there is a lack of complex sentence variety. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and sentence boundaries. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of tenses in an academic context.
