Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is undeniable that there is a considerable amount of debate in recent years regarding the issue of crucial academic subjects. Some scholars contend that history is the most significant topic while others argue that to keep allign with technological advancements pupils should concentrate more in science and technology. This esaay will critically examine dual perspectives and present a well reasoned position by justifying each.
Proponents believe that history is the bridge among past, present and future. Peoples take the lesson from the past, do accordingly in the present and become cautious about the future. In the second world war, mankind experienced most severe devastation in the history. Nuclear weapons swept away millions of people at a moment. World leaders has taken a good learning from this history. After this war, there were hundreds of conflicts are taken place, but none of these were like second world war as worlds citizens are more cautious than previous . They did not watch the wold war but they watched the movies and read the articles regarding the history of it. In case of Bangladesh has recenly experienced a reveloution by young generation. They has forced down the autocratic government. The history of rebel has now taken place in academic subjects to make people more cautious about autocracy.
Opponents believe that it is the era of science and technology. Now we have smartphones, internet, artificial intelligence all are the inventions of science and technology. When learners concentrate more in scientific and technical topics they will be one step ahead in this compettive world. Moreover Now a days job markets have also an inclination to technical fields. When students graduated from technical universities they have more possibility of finding suitable jobs than historians.
In my opinion, I completely disagree wih the statement. Students should go for technical topics and enriched them with the newest advancements. As a reult pupils will be flourished with new knowledge, get a chance of to conduct advance research and suitable jobs.
In conclusion, both views are valid but the latter view is ultimately more convincing as it provides more sutainable long term solutions both in academic and professional fileds when the students consider sicence as their main path.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument for history is supported by examples like the World Wars and recent events in Bangladesh, though the connection between these events and the study of history is slightly tenuous. The argument for science and technology is more superficial, relying on general statements about job markets. While the position is clear, the conclusion contradicts the prompt's requirement to discuss both views by dismissing the importance of history entirely, which limits the depth of the balanced discussion expected at higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'In conclusion', and 'In my opinion', though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from the World Wars to the situation in Bangladesh is abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts at topic-specific language like 'autocratic government', 'technological advancements', and 'competitive world'. However, there are several spelling errors ('esaay', 'allign', 'reveloution', 'compettive', 'sutainable') and minor collocation issues ('flourished with new knowledge', 'forced down the autocratic government'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a lack of precision that prevents a higher score. A wider range of less common lexical items would be needed for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('World leaders has taken', 'there were hundreds of conflicts are taken place', 'They has forced') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are missing commas in complex sentences. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors suggests that the writer does not have full control over complex structures, keeping the score in the 6.0 range.
