Student answer (Band 5.5)

Mostly people believe that history subject is more crucial in school and some others people say that in this era the subject of sciences and technology are more vital than history. In my opinion in this era the world subjects is mote essential than history because this is the time of science and technology.

At the start, this is the age of science and in the schools mostly teachers teach a world subjects like Biology, chemistry and other technological subjects because the generation of this time is interested in science and technology therefore this kind of child show his interest in world subjects not in history and in now a days we get a lot of information about this subjects and we are able to solve the problems of the new technology.

Secondly, some people says that the subjects of history in school is very essential than the other world subjects because in the books of history we know about our past and in this subjects people know how the old generation face difficulties in their time period and in the subjects of history we learn about the different old place of our country and in this subjects we learnt that how the the leader of Pakistan face difficulties at the time when the Pakistan was built. But in now a days the new generation the new world subjects than history because the are interested in this subjects

To sum up, this time is the age of science and mostly individuals show his interest in the new world subjects than history because they thought the subject of history is boring and they feel upset to learn that.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the importance of science and technology, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on history is somewhat superficial, focusing on 'learning about the past' without exploring the critical thinking or cultural benefits that history provides. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or logical reasoning rather than repeating the same general statements about students' interests. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'At the start' and 'Secondly' are used, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are often weak, leading to a disjointed flow. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this kind of child show his interest in world subjects', where the connection to previous ideas is not smooth. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'subjects', 'important', and 'things' (or 'world subjects'). There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'world subjects' to describe science, which is not standard academic English. Some phrases are awkward, such as 'the generation of this time' and 'the new world subjects'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to education and technology, and focus on using words in their correct context to express your ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people says', 'this kind of child show'), article usage (e.g., 'the subjects of history'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain run-on structures that lack proper punctuation. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, which affects the clarity of your arguments. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, such as pluralization and verb tense consistency, is essential before attempting more complex structures.
