Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue History is one of the most significant school subjects, and others believe that in today's subjects like Science and technology are more important than History. I would discuss the both views and I consider that Science and technology are playing important role in development of children's mind.

The technology related subjects help students to learn the advancements in the society from the starting age. In this way they accept the logics and focus more on understanding the things while shocking. For example, a person see a laptop first time in his adulthood, he must affraid of it like how it is working or it is a magic but cannot gain a benefit from it. However, knowledge about science help students to perform better in this advanced world.

On the other hand, a group of community supports History subject. They consider knowledge about traditionals is realy important for everyone; the way in which their parents and grandparents spend life. The reason behinde it, History course will help the learners to built a connection with their culture but i thing its a wrong perception because children learn more what they see rather than what they study. For instance, in a family a child see their parents celebrate their traditional events with a passion, he must feel close to it's history the way they enjoy it.

In my opinion, the Science and technology subjects have significant impact during schooling because they can learn about history from their elders.

To sum up, the technical subjects play a dramatic role in the starting years of education while history can be learned from surroundings such as traditional events.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you discuss the importance of technology, the argument regarding history is slightly underdeveloped and relies on the assertion that history is better learned at home, which simplifies the academic value of the subject. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more robust and directly address the educational context of the prompt rather than focusing solely on personal observation. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis could be improved by exploring the broader societal benefits of historical study.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'For example', and 'To sum up' to link your points. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this way they accept the logics'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the laptop example and the broader argument about science education is a bit disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'advancements', 'significant impact', and 'technical subjects', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'accept the logics', 'affraid of it', and 'knowledge about traditionals'. Furthermore, there are spelling errors like 'behide' and 'realy'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that you are using the correct word forms (e.g., 'traditional' as an adjective vs. 'traditions' as a noun).

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding, such as 'I would discuss the both views', 'a person see a laptop first time', and 'he must feel close to it's history'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and apostrophes. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and consistent verb tense control.
