Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few individuals argue History is the most essential subject of academic institution. While others believe that in this contemporary era Science and technology are the significant subjects as compare to History. I think Science and technology are more important than History.
Firstly, History is likely more interesting subject which provide a wide range of prehistoric information that are necessary for the awareness. A lot of people enjoy this subject as personally but this is a little bit boring subject. Further, Their is no specific evidence for the events occurred in the past because all is theory based. For instance, students in class have no more interest in the subject become stressful.
Secondly, Science and technology are most extended subjects in current time. Likely, Science have a most significant impact on the research projects. Moreover, usage of science is increasing daily in our life like medical innovation and to prevent disease. Also science play an important role specially in pharmaceutical development. Moreover, technology is evolving greatly day by day such in the form of, Artificial Intelligence (AI). Furthermore, technology usage is increasing dramatically over the world, like use of specific apps Chatgpt, Gemini and internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views and state an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. For instance, the claim that history is 'boring' or 'theory based' is a subjective assertion rather than a well-reasoned argument. The discussion on science and technology is also quite brief and lacks depth. To improve, you must expand your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples to reach the required length and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Likely, Science have...' is awkward and does not effectively link the ideas. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is also limited by the brevity of the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to create a smoother flow between sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that each idea logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'most extended subjects' and 'enjoy this subject as personally'. You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'technological advancement', 'historical analysis', or 'empirical evidence', while ensuring they are used in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Science have', 'technology usage are'), article misuse, and awkward sentence structures (e.g., 'Few individuals argue History is the most essential subject of academic institution'). While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for these common errors will help you achieve more error-free sentences, which is essential for a higher band score.
