Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued by a number of individuals that history is the most important subject in school while another group believes that science and technology are more crucial than History. Bothe these views are discussed below and my opinion is in final paragraph.

The first group must be arguing that History is the subject that connects the students with the past and provides them a chance to learns about the cultures of different nations. It also helps them to understand the hardships and struggles that are faced by their predecessors to build build their own homeland. For example, the history of Pakistan helps the pupils to understand the Harapa and Minjudarau civilizations and it also let them study the sacrifices of their forefathers that they made in getting independence.

On the contrary, second group might believe that science and technology are the most crucial subjects to be studied in school because they offer students an opportunity to know how nature works and design such procedures that will improve several fields like health, economy, infrastructure, human behavior. Every filed is now equipped with artificial intelligence that can perform action with more precision and efficiency. A recent study has suggested that the productivity of an AI assisted worker is 70% more than a normal worker.

In conclusion, I would like to put forward that science and technology causes immense advancements in every field and transformed our society completely but students should also have to be aware of our cultures and civilizations and this awareness can be delivered to them by History. Thus these subjects should be taught with equal focus.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the connection to cultural heritage for history and the practical benefits of science and technology. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on science and technology could be more deeply explored beyond the mention of AI productivity. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the two perspectives. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is elaborated with more depth and specific analysis rather than just listing benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the contrary', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the introduction ('Bothe these views'). Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the essay is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a solid band 6.5 to 7.0 range.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'predecessors', 'civilizations', 'infrastructure', and 'artificial intelligence'. However, there are some spelling errors ('Bothe', 'Harapa', 'Minjudarau', 'filed') and occasional word choice inaccuracies, such as 'causes immense advancements' instead of 'drives' or 'fosters'. The range is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise collocations will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'the hardships and struggles that are faced by their predecessors to build build their own homeland' (repetition and tense usage) and 'students should also have to be aware' (redundant modal usage). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex structures to ensure they are error-free. The punctuation is generally functional, but proofreading for minor slips would be beneficial.
