Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development is quite limited. While you mention the importance of history and the utility of science, the arguments lack depth and specific, relevant examples. For instance, the section on history mentions 'freedom fighters' but does not explain how studying history specifically benefits students today. Similarly, the section on science focuses on domestic chores like 'washing clothes' or 'crushing wheat,' which is a very narrow interpretation of the role of science and technology in the modern world. To improve, you should focus on broader societal impacts and provide more analytical support for your claims rather than listing daily activities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is basic and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'In earlier days' is used multiple times). Some transitions are awkward, such as 'Talking about Science and Technology,' which is too informal for an academic essay. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the link between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'important,' 'subjects,' and 'things.' There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'takecaring' (taking care of), 'crust the millets' (crush the millets), and 'makes people's life easily' (makes life easier). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('They faces,' 'History... are acts as'), article usage ('the history,' 'the Science'), and awkward phrasing ('People used to wash the clothes by their hand'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
