Student answer (Band 6.5)

Education plays a key role in the preparing students for future so choosing which s is a common debate. Some people believe that history should be prioritized over technology. While others argue that technology and science are more relevance in modern world. While opinions remain divided, I firmly contend that both are important, but technology and science are more important. Those who support history as a top subject argue that it helps to understand who we are. The foremost justification lies in the fact is that by studying past events, war, civilization and leaders, students learn from both mistakes and achievements. For example, learning from World War 2 teaches the dangers of conflict which can help to prevent similar problems in the future. More importantly, history also builds national identity and cultural awareness. In Pakistan, for instance, studying the Pakistan movements helps students appreciate sacrifices behind the country's creation and strengthens a sense of unity. On the other hand, people who favor science and technology say these subjects are essential for solving today's problems. Beyond this it is important to recognize that we are live in a world driven by innovation, AI, medicine and climate change. Skills in coding, engineering and science lead directly jobs and economic growth. This is best illustrated by Covid 19, it was scientist and tech experts, not historians, who developed vaccines for remote work and education. Furthermore, students in Qila Didar Singh and across the world, having strong science and tech skills increases opportunities for higher education and carriers in fields that are growing fast. For these reasons, I remain firmly convinced that both subjects should be taught but the balance should shift toward science and technology. History gives us identity and wisdom which are important, but science and technology give us the tools to improve health, communication and the environment right now. A student who understands both the past events and how to build the future will be the most prepared. In conclusion, while history teaches valuable lessons about humanity, science and technology are more critical for progress in today's world. Schools should keep history in curriculum, but also invest more in science and tech education so students can meet modern challenges.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the importance of history and the necessity of science and technology. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout the essay, concluding with a balanced but decisive view. Ideas are well-developed, particularly the examples regarding World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic, which provide concrete support for your arguments. The response is well-structured and directly answers the prompt's requirement to discuss both views and provide an opinion, demonstrating a clear focus on the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'For these reasons' to link your arguments effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner that is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including topic-specific terms like 'cultural awareness', 'innovation', and 'economic growth'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'more relevance' instead of 'more relevant' and 'lead directly jobs' instead of 'lead directly to jobs'. You also have some minor grammatical slips like 'we are live in a world' instead of 'we live in a world'. Despite these, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and effectively throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While there are frequent error-free sentences, there are also persistent minor errors, such as 'preparing students for future' (missing article) and 'it was scientist and tech experts' (should be plural 'scientists'). Punctuation is generally handled well, though there are occasional slips like the comma splice in 'This is best illustrated by Covid 19, it was scientist...'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band for grammatical accuracy.
