Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding history are vague, mentioning 'old things' and '17th century' without explaining their educational value. The arguments for science are repetitive, focusing on 'innovation' and 'convenience' without providing specific examples or deeper analysis. The essay lacks depth, and the conclusion is somewhat disjointed, failing to synthesize the arguments effectively. To improve, you should provide concrete examples and explain the 'why' behind your opinions rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often mechanical. While some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In conclusion' are used, they are sometimes applied incorrectly or feel forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the question 'Is it still important?' and the subsequent explanation. The logical progression is hindered by short, choppy sentences and a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect complex ideas. Improving the use of transition signals will help the reader follow your argument more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'things', and 'subjects' repeatedly. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'orinted with this subject' and 'historical subject' (when referring to the field of history). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic terminology and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Technologies makes', 'It also help'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing ('It results a better job opportunities'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of quotation marks and question marks in the second paragraph. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
