Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued of some people that history is the most important subject in school.others beleive that science and technology are most useful in the modern world. In my opinion, Both subjects are important, but science sand technology are more necessary today.

Those who support History say that it it helps us understand the past. By learning about past events, wars, and famous leaders, students can avoid making therr same mistake,For example learning about world war 2 teaches people about the dangers of conflict .History also gives the knowledge about our culture and identity. This helps to students feel connected to their country ands traditions.

On the other hand, people who science and technology thinks these subjects are more important for the future. In todays world, most jobs require knowledge of computers, engineering,or medicice.Countries that invest in technology like AI and renewable energy have better economy

Furthermore, science helps to solve problems such as diseases, climate change and pollution.without science ,our life would be much harder.

In my view, while history is valueable for understanding society and cvulture, science and technology are more important because they directly improve our daily life and career opportunities.A good education system should teach both, but more time and resources should be given to science and technology.

In conclusion both history and science technology have benifits. However,I beleive that science and technology are more imprtant for students in the 21st century.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped due to the brevity of the response. For example, the discussion on history and science is quite brief, lacking the necessary elaboration to fully explore the implications of each subject. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations and additional examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. There are also issues with punctuation and spacing, such as missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'world. In', 'mistake,For', 'traditions.This'). These errors occasionally disrupt the flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure and punctuation will help to achieve a higher band score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'beleive', 'therr', 'ands', 'medicice', 'valueable', 'cvulture', 'benifits', and 'imprtant'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'renewable energy' and 'identity', the range is somewhat limited. Focusing on accurate spelling and incorporating a wider range of academic collocations would significantly enhance your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'people who science and technology thinks') and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after punctuation marks. While the meaning remains clear, these persistent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly.
