Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 186 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. While you attempt to address both views, the arguments are under-developed and lack sufficient supporting examples. The conclusion is missing entirely. To improve, you must ensure you fully explore both perspectives with detailed explanations and provide a clear, well-supported personal opinion. The current length prevents a full response to the prompt, which is a major constraint on your score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some basic logical organization, with an introduction and separate paragraphs for each viewpoint. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'As we all know' and 'Others, on the other hand'. The lack of a conclusion and the abrupt ending make the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by fully developed supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'most important subjects' and 'science and technology'. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'dependent with' instead of 'dependent on' and 'will-reasoned' instead of 'well-reasoned'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of education and history, while ensuring you use them accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Science and technology has' (subject-verb agreement error), 'most of work is depend on' (incorrect verb form), and 'the even after' (unnecessary article). Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practice writing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions like 'although' or 'whereas' to demonstrate better control over your grammatical range.
