Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. It is often argued that while others believe that in today’s world subjects like Science and technology are more important than History. This essay will discuss both perspective before explaining why I believe that History is one of the most important school subjects.
One the one hand, many people believe that History is one of the main subject many school they did not taught the subject it is the most important subject because people learn the History teaches us valuable cultural lessons and human values. The most beneficial thing of History was it helps students to know their roots, family ancestors, and national heritage. and traditional culture of the country. For example, there are many historical events had occurred due to the ancestral traditions. In Pakistan many people celebrated their cultural events such as Basant, Sindhi culture etc.
On the other hand, other argue that in today’s world subjects like Science and technology are more important than History it is most beneficial but also teach History subjects to the school as well as parents also teach to the children what is the History? In todays generation Science and Technology are crucial because they will also helps the students to improve future career prospects.
Consequently, both arguments are valid however, I strongly believe that school should also teach the History subjects as well as Science and technology because students will also learn about traditional culture as it provides more advantages for individual and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. In the second paragraph, the argument regarding history is repetitive and lacks clear logical progression. The third paragraph regarding science and technology is somewhat disjointed, with unclear phrasing such as 'it is most beneficial but also teach History subjects to the school'. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth or specific, well-explained examples to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band. The conclusion is brief but restates the position effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the internal flow is often disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'Consequently', but they are sometimes applied mechanically or in contexts where the sentence structure does not support them. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between historical events and ancestral traditions is not explicitly linked to the main argument. The progression of ideas is present but often hindered by the lack of clarity in sentence construction.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There is a reliance on basic terms, and some word choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as 'main subject many school they did not taught' or 'beneficial thing of History'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation and collocation limit the score. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many school they did not taught'), tense consistency, and sentence fragments. Complex structures are attempted but often result in errors, such as the run-on sentences in the third paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and capitalization. While simple sentences are generally understandable, the lack of control over more complex grammatical forms prevents a higher score. Focus on mastering basic sentence structure and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex syntax.
