Student answer (Band 5.0)

the people who says that history is one of the most important school subjects because they think childrens has to be learnt history from beginning. they also thought when their boys grew up it is mandatory to learn history. but i dont think so. I consider when child has built up and learn from many things. then we let him go to school. this is my opinion. and I also say we need to learn history. because our religion is Islam the most powerful and beautiful faith. and todays we are distant from our creed. thats why I am in the favour of 1st talk. after that we are talking about the second opinion that in todays world subjects like science and technology . this is the most important subjects for todays life because that is need of modern era. and I would not in favour of this because history repeats itself. in my opinion the first one is better that is history is the main subject. because I am Muslim and we were sent here for doing good things not bad things. and I believe in Allah almighty. that is the reason because in Pakistan where I live here. all schools study science and technology but we forget our mission. so that is the reason why I choose history of Islam. because most of us not know our Rasool (S.A.W). i think this is considerable and no need another explanation. so thats it. our goal is to be learn about the most precious believe Islam.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views, but the development is highly subjective and lacks the academic objectivity required for this task. The argument relies heavily on personal religious beliefs rather than a balanced discussion of the educational value of History versus Science and Technology. While a position is stated, the reasoning is repetitive and fails to explore the broader societal or educational implications of the prompt. The focus on a specific religious perspective limits the scope of the response, making it difficult to evaluate the arguments in a general educational context. To improve, you should focus on providing logical, balanced arguments that appeal to a general audience.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, which is essential for a structured academic response. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and the transition between the two views is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a very limited and repetitive manner, such as 'after that' and 'thats why', which makes the progression of ideas feel mechanical. There is no clear introduction or conclusion, and the lack of logical sequencing makes it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of linking words and organizing the essay into distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint would significantly enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, often relying on simple sentence structures and limited word choices. There are frequent errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'in the favour of 1st talk' and 'precious believe'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision or nuance. To reach a higher band, you should work on expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and topic-specific terminology related to education and technology, while ensuring that words are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement ('the people who says', 'childrens has to be learnt') and tense inconsistencies. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many sentences lacking proper capitalization or ending with fragments. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Regular practice with proofreading for these common errors will help improve your accuracy.
