Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people say History is one the most important school subjects. While the other persons think that todays world subjects like science and technology are more than important rather than history. I'll discuss the both views respectively.

On the one hand, from my perspective history play a significant role in our life that tell u the older things about our country. For example, when i was 10years old i came to the museum with my elder brother, by the visit i assimilated that in museum is good for education like the subject of history. However, on the positive side history subjects tells u the important things of our country with every details. The majority of the students were dislike this subjects they ask this is a boring subject that is not common in future but some youngers ask they are very interested to read history subjects. Furthermore, they achieve alot of things from the subject of history. If someone ask a question about history things u answered quickly and u have to know everything about history that is most important of our future.

On the another hand, Science and technology subjects are to most important subjects in today's world. These subjects play a vital role in world economy and most common factors in all over the education. For Example, nowadays these two subjects are very important in our career if u want to be success quickly u have to learn that type of knowledge things that play a very positive role in our life like in 9th class u have options to choose subjects like computer or science most of the people choose science because they know that subject is very important now and for future. Technology is very important like everything now a days are ongoing to be AI, for example, there are many applications that help the work very easier through technology. This subjects tell and guides u terms by term how to be professional in technology.

In conclusion, although History is important for understanding our past learning from previous experiences, I believe that science and technology are more important today's rapidly developing world because they are play crucial role in every part of the things improving our lives and solving modern problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The arguments for history are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, relying on vague statements like 'achieve a lot of things'. The arguments for science and technology are more relevant but suffer from over-generalization and a lack of specific, well-explained examples. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting points are often superficial, which limits the overall impact of the argument. To improve, focus on providing more concrete, logical explanations for why these subjects are important rather than listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'by the visit i assimilated' and 'on the another hand' are used incorrectly or sound unnatural. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While there is an attempt to use transition words, they are not always employed with the flexibility required for a higher band. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will significantly enhance the logical progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There is a reliance on basic, repetitive language (e.g., 'important', 'things', 'subjects'). Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'older things' instead of 'historical events' or 'assimilated' used in an inappropriate context. There are also frequent informal contractions (e.g., 'u' instead of 'you') and spelling errors like 'alot'. To improve, you should focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are appropriate for a formal essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'history play a significant role'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and apostrophes. The frequent use of 'u' instead of 'you' is highly inappropriate for an academic task. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
