Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that history is one of the most important subjects at school. However, others think that science and Technology are most important in todays world. This Eassy will both discuss and my opinion.

On the one hand, History is an important subjects it teaches students about the past. Students can learn about important events, famous people and the mistakes made by previous generations. This knowledge can help people understand their country and culture better. For example, learning about wars and independence can help young people understand how their country developed.

On the other hand, science and technology are very important in modern life. Science helps to improve medicine, transport and Communication. Technology can improve also make our daily lives easy and faster. For example, smartphones and computers allow students to study online and find information quickly. Therefore, these subjects can provide useful skills for future jobs.

In my opinion, both history and science important but science and technology are most important in todays world. this is because modern society depends heavily on technology and scientific knowledge can help solve many problems.

In conclusion, History helps students understand the past, while science and technology prepare them for the future. I believe schools should give suitable importance to all the subjects because they provide different but valuable knowledge. But they difficult subjects to both of these science and technology. History and science are they easy in todays world. Technology to the period of todays world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments for both History and Science are relevant, they are somewhat superficial and lack depth. The conclusion is particularly weak, as the final two sentences are disjointed and do not contribute to a coherent summary of the argument. To improve, you should expand on your reasoning with more specific examples and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow within the final paragraph is poor; the last three sentences lack logical connection to the rest of the text, making the conclusion confusing. To improve, ensure that each sentence follows logically from the previous one and avoid adding new, unclear points at the very end of your essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You use words like 'important' and 'improve' multiple times, which limits the range of your expression. There are also minor errors in word choice and capitalization, such as 'Eassy' (spelling) and 'Technology' (unnecessary capitalization). To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and academic collocations to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'History is an important subjects') and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and sentence fragments in the conclusion. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence completeness would significantly improve your writing.
