Student answer (Band 6.0)
While some people argue that history is the most vital subjects in the school, others believe that STEM are far more essential in the modern world. In my opinion, although history helps students to understand how the past shapes our present world, STEM subjects are more important to achieve high demand careers and innovation.
On the one hand proponents of studying history argue that students should choose history because it helps them to understand how the past shapes our present world. They believe that by looking at past human choices, students will able to take effective decisions in the future. As a result, gurdians motivate their childen to select history. Moreover, assesing past human decisions, mistakes, cultures, we will able to find patterns which will significantly enhance to mitigate problems in the present time. Without studying history young generation will become ignorant about their own past and culture.
On the other hand, I believe that STEM subjects are far more important because it provides opportunity to achieve high demand careers and it leads to innovations. STEM subjects curriculum are designed in a way so that every stduent can learn about how real word operates, these skills not only solve complex problems but also introduces new solutions. Consequently, parents and students often choose these subjects so that they can contribute to the real world problems. Moreover, the skills students acquire from studying these subjects enable them to get high salary job in the modern world which is also a motivating factor. Without STEM subjects, it will impede innovations and solutions for modern world complex problems.
In conclusion, although history helps students to understand past behaviour that could solve present problems, I believe that STEMS are the most important subjects in school because it offers better jobs, leads to innovation and solve modern complex problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, though some points could be developed further with more specific examples. For instance, when discussing STEM, you mention 'innovation' and 'high salary jobs' but could have provided a concrete example of a technological advancement or a specific career path to strengthen your argument. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Consequently' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the phrase 'Without studying history young generation' lacks an article, and the transition between sentences in the second paragraph is occasionally repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is clear, which justifies a Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'proponents', 'mitigate', and 'impede'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'gurdians', 'childen', 'assesing', and 'stduent', which detract from the overall quality. Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'high demand careers' (should be 'high-demand') and 'real word' (should be 'real world'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the frequency of spelling and minor collocation errors limits the score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully convey your meaning, there are recurring grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the young generation') and subject-verb agreement ('STEM subjects curriculum are designed' should be 'is designed'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'Without studying history young generation will become ignorant'. Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the complexity of your sentence construction is sufficient for a Band 6.0.
