Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, Its not a big deal for people to decide between historical subjects among Science and technology ones. Technology is trending among younger generations so they prefer this subject. But some group of people believe History as the integral part of human civilization so they consider it.
The subject of history is not limited to any event or case, but this subject encompasses all of the events happened back in time such as, people who used to live and rule (their life history) and everything which happened in a past. Now a days people who feel more attached to their history, prefer historical subjects to be studied in school. Moreover the benefits of studying historical subjects in school is that students get to know the struggles their ancestors did. For example a group of people say that, by studying history subject in school, gives us motivation for future. By this our daily lives and decisions directly or at least indirectly influence meaningfully. Technology isn't the thing which started just in 20th century, but technology was being by Egyptians, Sindhu Civilization and many other civilizations in time who used technology in different form as per their needs.
But in today's world the technology is being adapted by almost every person, irrespective of their location and knowledge. The reason, the other group of people give for having Science and Technology as part of school subjects is they see this subject as the need of time, the generations right now and upcoming generations have to solve the problems and issues which are being developed in society. So there is a need for people who knows Science and technology and can discover and invent for the welfare of human.
In my opinion, both sides are right on their own point of view because the history teaches us the lessons and facts in human civilizations, moreover we can invent new tools by using old techniques, knowledge and upgrading and integrating them into latest Science and technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the importance of history is discussed, the explanation of why science and technology are 'more' important is less developed, focusing more on the necessity of solving modern problems rather than a direct comparison. The argument regarding the history of technology is an interesting point, but it lacks specific, well-integrated examples to fully support the claim. To reach a higher band, ensure that each viewpoint is given equal weight and that the supporting arguments are more thoroughly explained with concrete evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'The reason, the other group of people give...'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, particularly in the first paragraph where the connection between the two subjects is vague. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural, sophisticated connection between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'integral part' and 'civilization', but there are also instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'trending' and 'not a big deal', which are too informal for an academic essay. Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'technology was being by Egyptians'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal, conversational language to better suit the formal tone required for IELTS Writing Task 2.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the history', 'the technology'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments or awkward phrasing like 'Its not a big deal'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and verb forms, and practice constructing more complex sentences with greater precision.
