Student answer (Band 5.5)
Both subjects play an important role in modern society. This essay discusses on whether history or science and technology is crucial to the modern era.
History provides past events through which following generation gets some ideas on the present or future. It is injustice to avoid history from school children.Education should be done not only by imparting high legal education through cutting edge research on numerous issues that affect law and society but also by devoting time and attention to the question of what kind of society to be built up.it can only be done by teaching history.
However, science and technology are very important to the younger generation. And most of them follows technology because it has wide range of scope especially in the case of job seekers.for example, without computer knowledge no one can follow their job vacancies.Mooreover even in the teaching field now it is included IT classes.Today,on this fast paced world everything is computerised. On groceries ,supermarkets medical hospitals even in the way-traders ,they use QR codes for the purpose of cash payments. So technical development is so high.
In conclusion, in my opinion,I strongly believe that teaching or reading history is crucial but technology and science should be given more important than history.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 203 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. While the essay addresses both views and provides a clear opinion, the brevity prevents a fully developed discussion. The points regarding history are somewhat abstract, and the section on technology, while relevant, relies on simple examples like QR codes. To improve, you must expand your analysis by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments, ensuring each paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. There are also issues with punctuation and spacing, such as 'society. This' and 'built up.it', which disrupt the flow of the text. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect sentences and ideas more naturally and improve the overall logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher score. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'good', and 'high'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'way-traders' and 'imparting high legal education', which do not fit the context of the prompt. To improve, focus on using more academic vocabulary and precise collocations. For example, instead of saying 'technical development is so high', you could use 'technological advancement is pervasive'. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Examples include missing articles ('in teaching field'), subject-verb agreement issues ('most of them follows'), and run-on sentences. The punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods, are a recurring issue. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over complex structures and the frequency of basic errors limit the score. You should focus on proofreading your work to correct basic grammatical slips and practice using a wider variety of complex sentence forms accurately.
