Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 199 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. While you address both views and state an opinion, the brevity prevents a fully developed discussion. To improve, you must expand on your points by providing specific examples or deeper explanations for why science or history is important. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between ideas is occasionally abrupt. For instance, the sentence 'Having said that History subject is hot without its own advantages' is confusing and lacks a clear connection to the previous paragraph. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would help the essay flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'significant', and 'good'. There are also some awkward word choices, such as 'perious life experience' (which is unclear) and 'secure in occupation'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and precise academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'a country can acquire more human resource', you could use 'a nation can cultivate a highly skilled workforce'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'science and technology helps' (subject-verb agreement), 'a country be competitive' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'technology bring a secure' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentence fragments and run-on structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and a finite verb.
