Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly changing world, selection of subjects has become a matter of considerable debate. While some people believe that History has more significance, however, some people care more about selecting the Science and Technology.

In this case, I believe that both the fileds are serving good in their respective manner but subjects involving Science and Technology are more considerable.

At one hand, people has a support for History as it connects the students to the past and develops a sense of connectivity with their heirs. Moreover, History tells about the cultures and traditions which people were following decades ago and it explains about the struggles of our ancesstors for their living.

But in the today's fast moving world, Science and Technology has become necessary to keep in pace with the world. Most of the carrier oriented fields are related to this study ,so, the students find it more benificial to persue their careers and earn a good living which is a need of this growing world. Additionally, the science and technology has done so much progress that the students are always in a race of competing others, learning new things and prove their existance in this up-to-date society.

In my perspective, both the fields have their own impostance as History develops a relation while science and technology keep us on the road to developement. But, if I have to choose between both these fileds , I would definately go with the prior one as it is a basic need in this developed era. Although, I would advise the students interested in History to study this for knowledge and satisfaction, however, prefer to study Science and Technology as it gives a lot of career oppurtunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that History connects students to the past and Science/Technology is necessary for careers, these points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as you state you would choose the 'prior one' (History) but then advise students to prefer Science and Technology, which creates some confusion regarding your final stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'In my perspective' to link sentences. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this case' used to introduce your opinion. Additionally, the use of 'however' in the first paragraph is redundant because you already used 'While' at the beginning of the sentence. Improving the variety and natural flow of these linking words would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significance', 'connectivity', and 'career-oriented'. However, there are several spelling errors ('fileds', 'ancesstors', 'benificial', 'persue', 'importance', 'developement', 'definately', 'oppurtunities') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'serving good' instead of 'serving a purpose' or 'doing so much progress' instead of 'making significant progress'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the message from being understood.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people has a support', 'science and technology has done') and article usage ('the Science and Technology'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent punctuation throughout your work.
