Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this regard, there are two popular prevailing notions. One believes that History is one the most important school subjects, while other claims that in today’s world, subjects like Science and Technology are more important than History. I tend to argue on both schools of thought and share my opinion.
In the first place, the people, who assume the most crucial school subject is history, because history is not a just subject it is explain our past culture, politics, and other important things. For example, if subject of history is not included then, how do we know when the partition took place?. It is very vital course for our children because it gives information about who is the first president of Pakistan and who is the founder of Pakistan. Thus, it is pertinent to say that this course is highly beneficial for our children's knowledge of their country's history.
On the other hand, who oppose the first notion, also possess some logical point to get themselves heard. Initially, they believe that Science and Technology are more essential than History. I think that all course are important. For instance, if children only have knowledge about Science and technology and they do not knows about their country's history. Then, without history as a subject, how can we expect them to learn about the past. Moreover, they also stress on a point that Technology is more essential for our children because everything ran on technology; without it, life is not possible in today's world. Hence, it is worth saying that Science and technology are very crucial in today world but history is also important for our children.
In a nutshell, after considering all the above-mentioned arguments we can reach a logical conclusion that schools must teach both history and technology to help children grow.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, fulfilling the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument for history relies heavily on a single example regarding the partition of Pakistan, which lacks broader academic depth. The discussion on science and technology is also repetitive, focusing primarily on the necessity of technology without exploring the broader societal or economic implications. While a position is stated, it lacks a nuanced exploration of why these subjects might be balanced, resulting in a somewhat simplistic conclusion. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments with more sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In the first place', 'On the other hand', and 'In a nutshell' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is occasionally mechanical or slightly unnatural. For example, the transition 'Initially, they believe that...' does not fit the context of contrasting two viewpoints effectively. Additionally, some sentences are linked in a way that feels repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'children' and 'important'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on common, repetitive words like 'important', 'subject', and 'essential'. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'everything ran on technology' (should be 'runs') and 'in today world' (missing 's'). While you attempt to use some academic vocabulary, the overall range is limited. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same basic descriptors throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('history is not a just subject it is explain our past'), missing articles ('if subject of history is not included'), and awkward phrasing ('the people, who assume the most crucial school subject is history, because...'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense consistency and article usage would be highly beneficial.
