Student answer (Band 6.5)
Education plays a vital role in teaching ethics and morals to students and sharpening their intellectual minds. In today's world, with the advancement in technology, many people believe that subjects like Science and Technology should be given more importance in school, while some argue that History is one of the most important subject that should be taught more in schools. I believe that students should be made to focus on subjects like Science and Technology that allow them to learn and understand the rapidly growing technology and make proper use of it in the future.
On one hand, some people believe that teaching History is crucial because it allows them to understand the historical value, struggles and working of their country, giving them a chance to contribute in the betterment and development of their country. For instance, learning the historical patterns, trends or mistakes from past decision in various sectors like education, finance, healthcare, economics allows the concerned authority to indentify the past information and make better data-driven decisions. To continue this working, History should be given equal importance in schools.
On the other hand, people think that subjects like Science and Technology should be given more importance in schools because as advancement in technology grows, the need to understand such technology and make use of it in a way it benefits the human beings is crucial. For instance, the genz is known to be grown up with technology because of which it is extremely easy for them to find their way around advanced technologies. But, the older generation for whom technology did not exist in their past struggle with keeping up with technology and often requires their children to help them navigate their way in the modernized world. Because of these reasons, I believe that it is extremely useful to give more importance to key subject like Science and Technology as it allows us to understand the growing technology and mould it for making everyday tasks efficient.
Taking everything into consideration, with the increasing advancement in technologies, it is necessary for individuals to understand the working and mechanism of it and allowing students to learn subjects like Science and Technology makes it easy to reach that goal.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. Ideas are generally well-developed, particularly the argument for Science and Technology. However, the discussion on History could be more deeply explored; while you mention 'historical patterns,' providing a more concrete example of how historical knowledge specifically aids modern decision-making would strengthen the argument. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reiterates your stance, ensuring the task requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Taking everything into consideration' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions between sentences within paragraphs feel slightly mechanical. For example, the shift from discussing the older generation to your conclusion on technology could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'data-driven decisions,' 'mould it,' and 'intellectual minds' show an attempt to use more sophisticated language. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'indentify' (spelling error) and 'the genz' (informal/slang). Additionally, 'working of their country' is slightly unnatural; 'governance' or 'development' would be more precise. While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more academic collocations would elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several instances of grammatical errors, such as 'one of the most important subject' (should be plural 'subjects') and 'often requires their children' (subject-verb agreement error, as 'generation' is singular). Punctuation is generally correct, but there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'the genz is known to be grown up with technology.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring subject-verb agreement would improve your accuracy.
