Student answer (Band 5.5)
With the rapid development of society, it is often argued that history is one of the most important subject in formal education, while others claiming that practical subjects like science and technology are far more essential than history? Although science provides ~~real-interference~~ practicals, which can be used ~ for future projections. I largely believe that learning history is equally paramount in order to gain the knowledge of pre-historic time and values.
On the one hand, Advancement in technology has made individual's life easier by introducing substantial variety of gadgets. Schools should enable students to learn and practice science practicals at an early ~~ag~~ age. As a result, children become more familiar with experiments and it enhances children's basic skills and knowledge. In addition, science and technological subjects are linked to future projections. For instance, ~~for~~ certain calculations by artificial intelligence and scientist can predict disasters - flood, landslide and increasing pollution rate leads to various types of diseases, which needs cure and experts.
In the other hand, history is equally
essential subject in the formal education. Every student should ~~to~~ know the history of pre-historic period. Firstly, history contains information regarding various type of respected persons like scientists andsoldiers. Students should know, who gave the theory of gravity and certain biological process which occurs in the human body. Moreover, history does not mean only learning about people and dates nevertheless, it provide information about dames, wars and geographical area. This can be illustrated by, the land which is fertile and carbon prints in Himalayas.
In conclusion, I believe that a balance approach would be more beneficial in terms of giving knowledge to students because history is equally important as science. History teaches values and ethic to a students, while science gives expes exposure to certain algorithms and reactions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether history or science and technology is more important in school, and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are generally relevant, but some points lack full extension and are slightly muddled, such as the mention of carbon prints in the Himalayas. Nevertheless, the main arguments regarding science's predictive power and history's role in teaching values are presented, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.0 performance under Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement and follows a standard essay structure with an introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly phrased, such as 'In the other hand' instead of 'On the other hand'. Referencing and logical progression are occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and abrupt transitions, placing the text firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'substantive', 'projection', and 'algorithms'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors and typos throughout the text, including 'subject' instead of 'subjects', 'practicals' used as a noun repeatedly, 'dames' instead of 'dams', and 'ethic' instead of 'ethics'. These errors do not seriously impede overall communication, reflecting a Band 6.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures (e.g., 'Although science provides practicals, which can be used...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('others claiming', 'it provide'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing. Punctuation and sentence boundary issues also occur. Because errors are noticeable and persist throughout, but communication is not severely blocked, this meets the descriptors for Band 5.5.
