Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the task by discussing both views on history versus science and technology, and includes a personal opinion at the beginning and end. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes confusing. For instance, the discussion on history mentions 'mugal empire' and 'history of temple' as examples, but the explanation is disjointed. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding science and technology becomes unclear when the student writes 'tells about the how to made the science' and refers to 'Bigbasket,Swiggy'. The position is evident, but the supporting arguments lack clarity and sufficient extension. Overall, the task is addressed only partially, placing this response at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive feature, but the logical progression and cohesive devices are frequently faulty or mechanical. The student attempts to use transition phrases such as 'In one hand', 'On other hand', and 'In conclusion', though 'In one hand' contains a grammatical slip. Referencing and cohesive links within paragraphs are often unclear, as seen in sentences like 'Another reason that technology is going faster because of people's thinking.' The transitions between ideas feel abrupt, and the lack of precise referencing makes it difficult to follow the line of argument. These features align with the Band 5 descriptor for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student frequently repeats words such as 'history', 'school', 'subjects', and 'important'. There are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'word's large subject' instead of 'major subject', 'crucial' used incorrectly in 'not an crucial than', and 'how to made the science'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but they are inaccurate. Spelling errors, such as 'mugal', also occur. This lexical control reflects a Band 4.5, rounded to Band 5.0 as the vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and ungrammatical, such as 'when I am in school days the history is different on these days' and 'beacuse it speaks about all cultural and traditional values from people and also learn science and technology.' There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions (e.g., 'history is very popular subject for every schools', 'tell about our cultural and tradition'). These numerous errors often strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning, matching the criteria for Band 4.0.
