Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that history is the only a vital subject for children, while others think that other subjects such as science and techology plays an essential role. I strongly agree with this statement because learning these subjects not only helps students to learn practical skills but also allows them to get a higher position at workplace.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why people consider history as an important subject, is know about culture. To explain, when students learn history subject at early age they are more likely to stay connected with culture and religious places. For example, when they are studying any chapter, they saw different type of images from different aspects such as historical places, monarch. Consequently, history plays an important because it not only helps students to learn about their culture, but also encourage them to stay with their realism.
On the other hand, there are plethora of reasons why other subjects are more significant for children's career development. To be precise, these days, every
company is fascinated to use modern technology at
their workplace, so, subjects like science and technology is very important for them, because it helps them to learn about technical systems and real life experiences. For instance, when pupils learn these subject, they are able to work at a top management
organisation, because they have enough experience to
work in it. As a result, these subject are crucial
for student's future.
In conclusion, although history is important subject, other subject are also very significant for children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of history and the opposing view favoring science and technology, while also providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on history focuses vaguely on culture and 'religious places,' while the science argument relies heavily on general statements about getting a top-level job without fully exploring why these subjects outweight history. Furthermore, there is a slight contradiction in the introduction where you state 'history is the only a vital subject' when you likely meant to contrast it. Because the main parts of the prompt are addressed and a clear position is maintained throughout, the response comfortably earns a band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, providing a coherent overall arrangement. Transitional phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed to signal shifts in perspective. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, sentences within the second paragraph such as 'history as an important subject, is know about culture' lack smooth grammatical linkage, and the concluding sentence is overly abrupt. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the arguments, but overall progression can feel disjointed due to phrasing issues. This level of organisation aligns with a band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic ideas about education and career development. You attempt some less common vocabulary items such as 'plethora,' 'fascinated,' and 'significant.' However, there are notable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing, such as 'history is the only a vital subject,' 'techology' (spelling), 'learn history subject,' and 'stay with their realism.' These lexical errors and awkward collocations occur frequently throughout the text, though they do not completely impede communication. This performance fits the descriptors for a band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like 'not only helps students to learn... but also allows them...' and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors regarding subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'subjects like science and technology plays' and 'these subject are'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing that disrupt the flow. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but structural control over complex sentences is inconsistent. Because the errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader despite an attempt at variety, a band 5.0 is appropriate.
