Student answer (Band 5.5)

Society is divided into altruistic and egocentric mind set of people. Although some masses hold the viewpoint that history is one of most cruicial school subject because of past experience, I believe that nowadays such as science and technology are more significant than history holds more importance.

On the one hand, the major reason why some masses favour the former statement because of historical experience. This is due to fact that many people want to learn historical things because they want to know past mishappening. They teach student how to previous people face difficulty in their life and achieve something. Hence, many individuals think that it is significant subject in school. For instance, a survey conducted by Education department has approved the history subject due to its productive outcomes.

On the other hand, I believe that the latter point of view give the major reason is new discoveries. As they believe that if people more learn science and technology then they become interested in these subjects and afterthat they become scienetist and discover new things. It is beneficial for country. Another reason given by them is positive impact. To justify, technology become a positive impact on people life . They can communicate each other better and they can use various type of technology and gain knowledge about this.

To conclude, even though many people support history subject more important, I believe that science and technologyare more significant because of new inventions and modern life reasons.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views regarding the importance of history versus science and technology, and a personal position is stated. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on science and technology mentions 'new discoveries' and 'positive impact' without fully extending or substantiating these points with concrete examples. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 245 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This results in a slight penalty to Task Achievement due to the under-length constraint.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, providing a recognizable overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are employed to guide the reader through the text. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical, particularly in referencing and transitional transitions between sentences. For example, the phrase 'As they believe that if people more learn science and technology then...' exhibits awkward mechanical linking. Paragraphing is present, but overall progression occasionally stumbles due to grammatical opacity.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'altruistic', 'egocentric', and 'mishappening'. However, there are frequent inappropriate word choices and word-formation errors throughout the text. Examples include 'cruicial' (crucial), 'masses' used in place of 'people' or 'some', and 'scienetist' (scientist). While meaning is generally conveyed, these noticeable inaccuracies and spelling slips restrict the lexical score to the Band 5.5 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing introductory subordinate clauses such as 'Although some masses hold the viewpoint...' and 'As they believe that if people...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb forms, word order, and missing articles, such as 'subjects like Science and technology are more important than history holds more importance' and 'technology become a positive impact on people life'. These errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader.
