IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other people think that in today’s world subjects like Science and technology are more important than History.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Student answer (Band 5.0)
THERE IS AN ONGOING DEBATE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF SUBJECTS LIKE HISTORY, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.SOME PEOPLE THINK HISTORY IS CRUCIAL WHILE OTHERS GIVE PREFERENCE TO SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.IN THIS ESSAY, I WILL DISCUSS MY OPINION BY GIVING RELEVANT EXAMPLES.
FIRSTLY, THE SUBJECT HISTORY GIVES US A DETAILED VIEW OF THE PAST, ORIGIN , CIVILISATION ETC.IN MY OPINION, IN THIS SUBJECT, STUDENTS HAVE TO LEARN A LOT ABOUT DATES HOW AND WHEN ETC, THERE IS NOT A SPECIFIC REASON GIVEN FOR ANY INCIDENT. EXAMPLE :- EVERYONE KNOWS WHEN WAS WAR STARED? BUT NO ONE KNOWS WHY WAR STARTED? THERE IS NO ACCURATE ANSWER OF WHY IN THIS FIELD.
ON THE OTHER HAND, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WORK SIMULTANOUSLY.FOR EXAMPLE :WE KNOW EARTH IS KNOWN AS BLUE PLANET, WE ALSO KNOW THE REASON BEHIND THIS WITH THE HELP OF TECHNOLOGY. IN TODAY'S WORLD CHILDREN ARE KEENLY INTERSTED IN THE TOPIC THAT THEY CAN VISUALISE AND OBSERVE IN THEIR LIVES.THE WORD SCIENCE MEANS 'TO KNOW' . THIS SUBJECT HELPS IN ENHANCING THE LOGICAL, CRITICAL, ASKING QUESTIONS ETC SKILLS OF THE STUDENTS. IN INSTANCE, IF A TEACHER IS TEACHING ABOUT STOMATA, THEN HE CAN SHOW HIS STUDENTS , HOW STOMATA LOOK LIKE? EVERY THIS IS TRANSPARENT IN SCIENCE, THERE IS NOTHING TO CRAM, JUST READ, UNDERSTAND AND OBSERVE THE SURROUNDING FOR LONG TERM MEMORY.
IN THE CONCLUSION, BOTH SUBJECTS HAVE THEIR OWN IMPORTANCES ONE TEACHES US ABOUT PAST, AND THE OTHER GIVES THE WAY HOW TO LIVE IN PRESENT.
