Student answer (Band 5.5)

History teaches us fundamental of human existence, the evolution of warafare along with mankind. History as said by many sochlars is the geatest teacher of all. History gives us insight of civilization their rise and falls. It provides a good lesson on do and don't of the state craft, the example of this would be Sun Tzu book Art of war which dates back to 1000 years but still much relevant in domain of warafare and state.

History helps in understanding of conflict that exist at any level. Furthermore, it develops critical thinking ability among students but the trap exists cause schools are teaching the fix curriculum that bores the students. Along with that, the most important argument lies in how history is being taught, is it taught to rot learn it has no benefits for a student.

The subjects like technology and science hold their own importance in stufents life as they equip the student with abilities to navigate the adult life. The understanding of technology shifts students from passive users to active users of digital infrastructure. Both subjects provide technical and scientific literacy yo students to navigate the complex realities of world.

Focusing only on subject or domain is not really a wise decesion to make because we live in the world where fusion approach is needed to navigate daily life. A society trained only in technology without history creates powerful tools without understanding their societal, ethical, or political impact. A society trained only in history without technology becomes incapable of solving modern physical and computational problems. So, a balanced appeiach is required whole teaching these subjects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of history and the rising significance of science and technology, while also presenting a clear concluding opinion advocating for a balanced approach. The ideas presented are generally relevant, such as the mention of Sun Tzu's 'Art of War' and the need for a fusion approach to avoid ethical blind spots. However, some arguments remain slightly under-developed, and the points about rote learning feel somewhat tangential to the core debate of the subjects' relative importance. Furthermore, there are minor generalisations in the first paragraph. Overall, the task is adequately handled, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from the discussion of history to technology, culminating in a balanced conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For instance, the transition 'cause schools are teaching' is overly conversational, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt shift in the second paragraph regarding how history is taught. Cohesive devices are present but lack flexibility, leading to a choppy flow in certain sections. These features place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'state craft', 'infrastructure', and 'computational'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'fundamental' instead of 'fundamentals', 'warafare', 'sochlars', 'geatest', 'fix' instead of 'fixed', 'rot learn', 'stufents', 'yo', 'decesion', and 'appeiach'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to restrict the score to a Band 5, as they cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited and occasionally inaccurate lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences, such as 'Focusing only on subject or domain is not really a wise decesion to make because we live in the world where fusion approach is needed...'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including missing articles ('teaches us fundamental of human existence', 'in domain of warafare'), missing prepositions, and agreement issues. Despite these errors, meaning is generally conveyed, and communication is rarely completely blocked. The frequent occurrence of basic grammatical slips places this performance at Band 5.
