Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding the importance of history versus science and technology, and a clear opinion is stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. Phrases like 'for instance, if schools teachers teach about history... this is not good for growing up childrens' offer superficial arguments without deep elaboration. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the reasoning lacks depth and relies on simplistic generalizations. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5, where ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at structural organization with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, such as starting body paragraphs with 'In first point' and 'In second point'. Cohesive devices are often inaccurate or mechanically applied, and referencing is frequently unclear (e.g., 'because it is the future of any country'). Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion is faulty and repetitive, placing this response firmly in Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive throughout the essay, relying heavily on words like 'history', 'science', 'technology', and 'important'. There are notable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'technology belongings', 'school did not prioritise history give a certain lecture', and 'give's the priority subject'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are unsuccessful or marred by word-choice errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. This performance reflects the Band 5 descriptor of a limited and minimally adequate range with noticeable errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but most complex attempts contain major errors. Grammatical accuracy is low, with frequent errors in basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and plurals (e.g., 'growing up childrens', 'school only teaches history and not giving importance', 'children's can't rely into'). Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic, with misplaced capital letters and incorrect spacing around commas and periods. Because errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate.
