Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nowadays many eople belive that science and technology are more crucial than any others subject and theyare making priority for these two subject rather than others specially for history . i belive that science have played importat role but others ubjects are also iportain for children and even for adults. may learning science have many advantage but it also have diaadvantge. the given essay will discuss my opinion about this topic.
the one major advantage of learning science and technoogy can help students to survive on this modern era. if they choose technology than they will have concept about internet, social media and they also can invented different tools and apps also. if students science on their secondar level than they will ahve opportunity for many field for examle , for get certificate of doctor , it, nurse every students should have to e certificate of science ontheir secondary. therefore if we choose science then we will get opportunity for many fields where career can build and also pride on society.
may science hae many adventage but it also have several disadvantage also the main one disadvantage is for those students who are not particularly intrested on this subject some one like to be social worker , some like to be CA, accountant and every one have their own prespective and choice so for veryone scence cant be appropriate. many students are interested in learning about histor and im also uite interested about history. yeah science is iportain thats not mean we cant build our career on other field so others are equallyimportain as science. for example if a students if planning for socil work then he/ she cant welly perform on science and everyone dont hve ability rto learn science and technology. therefore, we should have give prioritiseothers sujectalso as science.
in conclusion science may could have advantage but every students dont hve ability tolearn aout it and everystudents are not interested in science so both science& technology and history both should be equally treated.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student addresses both views regarding the importance of science and technology versus history, and attempts to provide a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive, which aligns with Band 5 descriptors. The response mentions advantages and disadvantages of science, and touches upon individual career interests, but lacks fully extended arguments or concrete examples. For instance, the reference to 'social worker' or 'CA' is brief and lacks elaboration. The position is stated, but the support remains somewhat underdeveloped throughout the body paragraphs. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of depth and elaboration prevents a higher score in this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organised into paragraphs, featuring an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is limited by awkward transitions and mechanical referencing. Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, such as the frequent reliance on 'therefore' and 'may science hae many adventage'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is disjointed, jumping between ideas without smooth bridges. For example, the second body paragraph abruptly shifts from the disadvantages of science to personal interest in history. These characteristics align closely with Band 5, where some organisation is present, but clear overall progression and accurate cohesion are lacking.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The lexical range is limited and basic, with frequent spelling errors and incorrect word choices throughout the text. Examples include 'belive' for believe, 'crucial than any others subject', 'importat', 'iportain', 'adventage', and 'diaadvantge'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'perspective' and 'prioritise', but these are often overshadowed by basic errors in spelling and collocation. Although the meaning can generally be discerned despite the errors, the vocabulary constraints and repetitive use of words like 'science', 'technology', and 'history' restrict the lexical score to Band 4.0 or 4.5. Awarding a 4.5 reflects vocabulary that is occasionally adequate for basic communication but significantly hindered by systematic spelling and word-formation errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that frequently contain serious errors. The text exhibits persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, missing articles, and awkward sentence structures, such as 'if students science on their secondary level than they will ahve opportunity for many field' and 'everyone dont hve ability rto learn science'. Punctuation and capitalisation are also problematic, with spaces before punctuation marks and uncapitalised starting letters. Because errors are frequent, distorting sentence structures and causing difficulty for the reader at times, the response fits the Band 4 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
