Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other argue that modern subjects like Science and technology are more important than History.

On the one hand, History subject is for culture , religion and past things it is important because of students know about their ancestors example; Aryas. how they lived ,where from travel and struggled with life likewise Hadappa culture they lived near Sindhu river and made a civilization with many facilities like; houses, toilet, washrooms, road, stalls and etc that can feel as about how they made without unit or advance engineering structure. History informative for every state or community to show their ethics their dressing ,food , profession, cultural dance, festivals that make up structure for our moral standards, saturate. Example like region of Marvad their dressing and saturates makes today generation unique identity.

On the other hand , science and technology are make life easy for any thing that struggled in past like communication by mobiles , travel by vehicle, medical problems with medicine ,advance use of space with high structure design buildings. Science and Technology are make students new opportunity for jobs in future like ; Ai and Ml algorithms make new opportunity to build career. In my opinion student should more focus on science and Technology subject because of their future career.

In conclusion, science and technology are important for their future life and career but History make them connect with culture , build moral standards and saturates.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response discusses both views, mentioning the cultural value of history and the career benefits of science and technology, and gives a clear personal opinion in the final paragraph. However, the task achievement is limited by the overall length requirement not being met, as the response contains 246 words instead of the minimum 250 words. Additionally, the development of ideas is somewhat disjointed and lacks full extension in places, with examples like the Indus Valley civilisation (spelled Hadappa) presented as a list of features rather than being fully integrated into an argument. Due to the under-length penalty and the somewhat limited elaboration of ideas, a band 5.0 is appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is organized into four distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a brief conclusion. While there is a clear attempt to structure the response, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor sentence construction and mechanical transitions such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are used clumsily or inaccurately, as seen in the phrase 'Example like region of Marvad their dressing and saturates makes today generation unique identity.' Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak. These issues align with the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts to use a range of topic-specific vocabulary related to history, science, and technology, including words like 'civilization', 'ancestors', 'algorithms', and 'communication'. However, there is a very limited control of word choice and collocation, alongside numerous lexical errors and non-standard forms such as 'saturates' used repeatedly in place of 'attire' or 'features'. Other awkward phrasings like 'advance use of space with high structure design buildings' significantly impede readability. The range is minimally adequate to convey basic concepts, but frequent noticeable errors place this performance firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences or faulty complex constructions. There are frequent, persistent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and missing prepositions throughout the text. Examples include 'History subject is for culture , religion and past things it is important because of students know about their ancestors', 'how they lived ,where from travel', and 'Science and Technology are make students new opportunity'. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of control over complex sentence forms, corresponding to a Band 5.0.
