Student answer (Band 5.0)

A busy mind leads creative ideas. Few individuals say History is on of the most important school subject. Other people beleives that in today's world subjects like science and technology are mose crucial than History. I am going to discuss both views and give my opinion in upcoming paragraph.

To commence with, history is one of the most crucial subject for students in the schools, due to, it tells us about the traditional way of living or how our ancestors survive. Secondly, in history, childrens also study about the extinct animals like dinasqurs, moreover, dragons, which is very interesting and deep.

On the other hand, science plays the very important role in the development of scholars's mind. In the world everything have their own

science and style, moreover in science

there are three main subjects for

childrens, first is biology in it we

study about human (scratched out: and) animal and plant

body functioning, another subject is

chemistry, which teach us the chemical

reactions and its use, last one is

physics, in it we study the laws

and theories. All three are (scratched out: very) very

important for (scratched out: of) the techno logy

development.

In my opinion, analysing about science

and technology are more benificial

than studying (scratched out: his) history because nowdays

almost (scratched out: 90%) of things are operated

by using science and technology.

In conclusion, every subject and literagy

has their own (scratched out: b) effects on student's

knowledge, therefore, giving equal priority

to all these subjects (scratched out: can)

leads more succsess to the scholars.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on history versus science and technology, and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and contains factual inaccuracies or confusing claims, such as stating that dinosaurs and dragons are studied in history. The position is stated, but the support lacks depth and extension, preventing the essay from reaching a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately enough to satisfy the requirements for Band 5.5, balancing the clear presence of all prompt elements against the under-developed and occasionally flawed supporting arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at logical progression. However, paragraphing is disrupted by formatting issues in the body, and cohesive devices are frequently mechanical, inaccurate, or awkward (e.g., 'To commence with', 'due to', 'another subject is...'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow is impeded by disjointed sentence structures, particularly in the science paragraph where punctuation and line breaks hinder readability. This level of organisation and cohesive control aligns well with the Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task (e.g., 'development', 'traditional', 'chemical reactions'). There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'beleives', 'dinasqurs', 'literagy', 'succsess', 'benificial') and incorrect word forms or collocations (e.g., 'analysing about science', 'techno logy'). While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the lexical limitations and persistent spelling mistakes prevent the response from achieving a higher band, placing it squarely at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every subject and literagy has', 'things are operated'), punctuation, and article usage. Many complex structures are faulty or awkwardly phrased (e.g., 'In my opinion, analysing about science and technology are more benificial than studying history'). These frequent errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though meaning remains partially accessible. This profile corresponds to a Band 5.0 in grammatical range and accuracy.
