Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, there is a mixed school of thoughts among individuals that the upmost priority of profound significance in school subjects must be history while other category of people think that subjects including science and technology are cruical and vital subjects than history.

Initially, discussing about the view favouring in history subject. As history is that study which upholds the secrets, problems, puzzles and obviously the outcomes and solutions of the past time,it holds a vital significance. School is that time of a child's life where he is grooming in all aspects. In this case a point is , child is learning about rights and wrongs of life, about academics, about how to pursue future. Subsquently the exposure of history subject would furnish its personality and intelligence too. From my perspectives, I strongly belives that history alwasy repeats itself, one should be aware of history and its past consequences.

On contrary, the opposite mindset is priority of sience and technology subjects over the history. In modern times, none can neglect the fact that science and technology are of profounf imprtance regarding our future. The coming time is of techonolgy solely. Subsquentially the school students essentially be taught these subjects rather focusing on History. In my point of view, studying history is not for all minds. I'm stongly agree in this view of discussion that future world is of science and technology merely. These subjects are not any kind of less important than any other subject.

In the conclusion, both views have strong points. As science and technology could not be taken for granted and necessarily given full significance, at the same place history subject must also be given same importance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on the importance of history versus science and technology, and provides a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the ideas lack full development and depth. For instance, the argument that 'history repeats itself' is stated rather than explained with concrete examples. While a clear position is maintained throughout the essay, the reasoning remains somewhat general and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0, as it addresses all parts of the prompt with relevant, though partially under-developed, ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear attempts at paragraphing, separating the introduction, the two viewpoints, and the conclusion. However, the progression is sometimes hindered by awkward cohesive devices and mechanical referencing. For example, transitional phrases like 'Initially, discussing about the view favouring in history subject' and 'Subsquently' are used incorrectly or awkwardly, disrupting the logical flow. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within the paragraphs feels disjointed due to phrasing issues. These mechanical errors in cohesion place the response at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the academic prompt, using terms such as 'significance', 'profound', and 'consequences'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, awkward collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'upmost priority' instead of 'utmost priority', 'cruical' instead of 'crucial', and 'techonolgy' instead of 'technology'. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the basic meaning, the frequency of lexical errors and non-standard phrases prevents the response from achieving a higher band, resulting in a score of 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are numerous grammatical errors and awkward syntactic constructions that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'there is a mixed school of thoughts among individuals that the upmost priority... must be history', 'child is learning about rights and wrongs', and 'I'm stongly agree in this view'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement also show recurring flaws. Because errors are frequent and occasionally impede smooth understanding, this criterion warrants a Band 5.0.
