Student answer (Band 5.5)

History is a essential subject to read in which students can get connected with previous activities of the past . Many people think that history is an important subject for pupils, whereas others think that other subjects such as science and technology subjects are more inportant than history. I will dicuss both point of views about this statement in the following paragraphs.

Nowadays, in school a student learn a variety of subjects into their class history is also one of them that give his/her knowledge about ansesteers, freedom fighters, kigdoms of different empirors also that provide a historical background to a student. For example In India students have to read history subject till mactric education that helps them to get information about how free dom fighters sacrifices their life towards their nations that gives a moral value to a student. As a result reading a history subject also shows different maps and locations of houses of ancient kings how they were lived and trasported from one to another place.

On the other hand subjects such as science and technology related subjects also has several benefits. Firstly reading science subject gives the knowledge about scitific researchrs that helps the students to knwn about different palanet in galaxy and its also provide satellite information how these are used for navigation and time management. Along with this tecnologhy related subjects gives information regarding equipments how these are worked and how to ditect problems into them. So due to these reasons Science and technology should be a part of part of reading subjects.

In conclusion, although both subjects has different benefits to read but in my opinion schools should focused on science and tecnologhy subjects first because it has far more better results for student's growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the importance of history versus science and technology—and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on history focuses heavily on examples of freedom fighters and ancient kings in India without extending the argument into broader analytical points about societal understanding. Similarly, the science and technology section touches upon space and tools, but the explanations are brief and under-developed. This places the response comfortably at Band 6, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, but these ideas lack deeper extension and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable four-paragraph structure. Progression is generally maintained, and basic cohesive devices such as 'Nowadays', 'For example', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal transitions between ideas. However, paragraphing and referencing show noticeable flaws. The second paragraph is a single, extremely long run-on block of text that attempts to cover multiple concepts without adequate internal structuring. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'how these are used' where antecedent links are fuzzy. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical and repetitive. This aligns with Band 5 due to the lack of clear overall progression within paragraphs and faulty cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating basic concepts related to school subjects. Attempts are made to use less common items and subject-specific vocabulary, such as 'freedom fighters', 'historical background', and 'scientific researchers'. However, there are frequent spelling errors ('essential' spelled as 'a-e-s-s-e-n-t-i-a-l', 'inportant', 'ansesteers', 'kigdoms', 'empirors', 'mactric', 'free dom', 'trasported', 'scitific', 'researchrs', 'knwn', 'palanet', 'tecnologhy', 'equipments', 'ditect', 'focused'), and word choice inaccuracies. These lexical errors and frequent misspellings impede communication in places, pulling the score down to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and introductory prepositional phrases. However, grammatical control is weak throughout the text. There are numerous punctuation errors, missing articles, and subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'a essential subject', 'a student learn', 'subjects... also has', 'both subjects has', and 'schools should focused'. Many sentences run on without appropriate punctuation or conjunctions, creating structural confusion. While basic meaning is usually recoverable, the frequency of errors is high, making Band 5 the most accurate descriptor for grammatical range and accuracy.
