Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some amount of individuals say that history is one of the very significant books. But the other believe that in modern days subjects for example Science and technology are most essential than history. In this essay I will discuss both ideas and I want to explain my personal view.

To begin with, one of the main reason behind some people beliefs that the field of history is most valuable. Because some people want our new generation studied the history of our heroes because it has a significants impact on people lives. For example, if students know how our heroes faced a different kind of challenges then students experience several benefits or face different challenges depending on the situation. Therefore, it is important to understand the history book then this aspect carefully before reaching a final conclusion.

Furthermore, another most important point to consider is other people thought that Science and information technology is more important than history. Because they thought that in advanced days everyone need the new technology the reson behind these subjects provide a lots of facilities like new jobs and new businesses etc. For instance, in a specific area people want to prefer Science but the other want history subjects after the result Science provide more comfortable while comparing the history. In addition, taking appropriate steps can help to improve the situation and achieve high goals in Science.

In my opinion, both views are correct in thier own ways but I prefer government should take initiate that every people have own right that they chose any subjects and learn it.

To sum up, both view provide thier situation and final result and they give example own idea because both subjects are impotatnt at modern days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether history or science/technology are more important school subjects, and provides an overall opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding history mentions that 'our new generation studied the history of our heroes', but this point lacks full extension and relies on generalities rather than concrete examples. Similarly, the points made about science and technology lack specific depth. While a clear position is established, the reasoning remains simplistic. This performance aligns best with the Band 5 descriptors, where the task is addressed, but ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, and an introduction and conclusion are present. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and unclear referencing. For example, sentences often begin abruptly with phrases like 'Because some people want...' causing grammatical fragments and confusing the flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used mechanically, such as the repeated overuse of 'Because' and 'Therefore' in inappropriate sentential contexts. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal unity and progression of paragraphs lack smooth sequencing. These issues place the response firmly at Band 5, which features some overall organisation but lacks clear overall progression and exhibits inaccurate or repetitive cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by inaccurate word choices and form errors. Examples include referring to school subjects as 'books' ('one of the very significant books') and incorrect word forms such as 'significants impact', 'advanced days', and 'impotatnt'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'significant' and 'conclusion', but errors in collocation and spelling ('reson', 'thier', 'initiate') are noticeable and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. This performance reflects the Band 5 descriptor, showing a limited but minimally adequate range with noticeable errors that affect clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are almost invariably faulty, often resulting in fragmented clauses or run-on sentences without main verbs, such as 'Because some people want our new generation studied the history...'. Errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles are frequent throughout the text (e.g., 'other believe', 'everyone need', 'Science provide more comfortable'). These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher score. This matches the Band 5 descriptor, characterised by a limited range of structures and frequent errors.
