Important subjects for school is a burning issue of a present time because a little mistake in choosing the right subjects can demolish the whole carrier of student. In the modern era of technology, some people believe that history is too much important subject although, some believe that science and technology are more fundamental than history. I agree with both arguments but paying more attribute to science and technology. , Firstly, I sheds light on the history subject. History played a pivotal role in the student life. It bridges the gap between ourselves and our ancestors. History sheds light on the determination and hard work of our forefathers. It gives them a sense of reliability about the hurdles and obstacles of ancient time people for getting food and earn their livelihood. No doubt, history is a beneficial subject but it is not much important than science and technology. For example, through history, we may be knew about how to burns fire but in this modern era, it is worthless because of the numerous inventions. Secondly, science and techonolgy subjects have a major impact on our social and modern life. These subjects are the leading cause of many new inventions. For example, If a student can study only history in his school life, then how he can know about the manufacturing process of cell phone. These subjects incouraged students to establish new products and enhanced students for the reputation of country at global scale. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response partially addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of history and the prominence of science and technology, while also presenting a clear personal position agreeing with the latter view. However, some ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, the discussion regarding history mentions that it 'bridges the gap between ourselves and our ancestors' and helps people understand ancient hardships, but these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with deeper reasoning. Similarly, the example regarding the manufacturing process of a cell phone is briefly stated without exploring broader implications. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop all ideas with more robust elaboration and deeper explanation throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic level of organisation with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and repetitive manner, notably through the excessive reliance on sequencing phrases such as 'Firstly,' and 'Secondly,' alongside repetitive sentence openings. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when pronouns jump between singular and plural references when discussing ancient people versus students. To improve coherence, the writer should employ a wider and more varied range of cohesive links, ensure smoother transitions between ideas, and establish a logical progression of arguments that guide the reader naturally through the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'pivotal role' and 'fundamental', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form. Examples include 'demolish the whole carrier of student' instead of 'career', 'too much important subject' instead of 'very important', and 'paying more attribute' instead of 'attributing more importance'. Additionally, there are persistent spelling and lexical errors, such as 'techonolgy' and 'incouraged'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher standard, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, pay closer attention to collocations and word forms, and reduce spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic clauses. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, such as conditional structures ('If a student can study only history...'), these attempts are frequently faulty. Frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('Important subjects for school is'), missing or incorrect articles ('in a present time', 'in student life'), and awkward verb tenses ('we may be knew about'). These errors are frequent and can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer must improve their control over basic grammar rules, diversify sentence patterns, and reduce the frequency of structural errors.
