Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—the importance of history versus science and technology—and provides a personal opinion, sitting comfortably at the mid-level. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, when discussing technology, the writer notes that children use internet, phones, and laptops to solve problems and create projects, but these supporting points are under-developed. Similarly, the arguments regarding history mentioning culture and heritage are somewhat surface-level and lack extended support or specific examples. The position is stated, but the ideas tend to generalize rather than delve deeply into the nuances of why each subject holds value in modern education.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some structural organization with a four-paragraph structure that attempts an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing a clear overall arrangement of ideas. Progression, however, is not always fully maintained, leading to a choppy flow. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or overused, such as the frequent reliance on repetitive transitional phrases like 'Some individuals agrue that' and 'Moreover, They don't focus'. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical links between sentences can be mechanical and occasionally obscure the relationship between ideas, making the progression feel halting rather than smooth.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited, demonstrating a minimally adequate vocabulary for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'heritage', 'development', and 'beneficial', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation. For example, phrases like 'only crcuial subject' and 'eye-sightness' reflect persistent issues. Furthermore, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'agrue', 'realy', 'difficuilities', 'hertiage', and 'fighte', which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay relies on a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There is a high frequency of grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in present time', 'due that reasons'), incorrect verb forms ('children are started dependent'), and run-on sentences with incorrect punctuation ('fields are started using it. so that get chance'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader, and simple sentence structures dominate the writing, preventing the display of a wider variety of complex forms executed with good control.
