Student answer (Band 6.0)
This is quite controversial topic ,but from my point of view nothing is useless.I think both are correct, as history teaches us to not repeat mistakes ,that caused disasters in past .On other hand science subjects are used in modern world for technological advancement.
History is something that is actually helpful for learning and exploring new things. It has great influence on a particular society or civilization that it belongs to.Studying history will help us to prevent mistakes that were made in past for example US's nuclear attack on japan is one of the most horrible and horror things in human history that has taught humanity alot ,after studying that we can prevent such thing to happen again.
On other side Science subjects also carry a huge influence in today's modern world. As world is advancing day by day the need of scientific knowledge is increasing.Science subjects such as Biology ,physics and chemistry offer's different information used in different industries.Biology helps us alot in medicine and many other things related to living organisms.Physics helps us to understand many industrial application such as Bernoulli's equation used in pressure and speed management in many industrial process,It is major topic in physics.while chemistry plays a great role in chemical reactions in laboratories.
Thus ,I think both history and science subjets plays their roles in our society in different ways.History by preventing us from repeating horrible mistakes that humanity has made in past and faced devastating destruction and science subjects playing their role in modern advancement , industrialization and health sector.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of history and the value of science and technology, while also providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the ideas are developed to varying degrees. For instance, the example of the nuclear attack on Japan is relevant, but the explanation of scientific fields like physics relies heavily on listing specific concepts such as 'Bernoulli's equation' rather than fully exploring their broader societal impact. To reach a higher level, the ideas would need more extension and a more thoroughly sustained position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance, and paragraphing is attempted to separate the distinct views. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, seen in transitions like 'On other hand' and 'On other side', which contain minor preposition and article inaccuracies. Referencing and logical progression between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, such as the sudden shift into specific physics principles without a smooth bridging phrase. To achieve a more advanced band, the use of cohesive devices would need to be smoother and referencing more precise throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'technological advancement', 'civilization', and 'industrialization'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and word-form errors, along with occasional spelling slips, such as 'subjets' instead of 'subjects' and 'offer's' instead of 'offers'. Phrasing like 'horrible and horror things' lacks precision and natural collocation. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they reflect a typical intermediate lexical level. Incorporating more precise vocabulary and eliminating word-form errors would elevate this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ability to construct compound and relative clauses, such as in 'history teaches us to not repeat mistakes that caused disasters in past'. However, there are frequent punctuation and article omissions, missing commas around introductory elements, and minor agreement issues. While these errors occur regularly, they rarely impede overall communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument. To move beyond this level, the writer would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free sentences and demonstrate tighter control over punctuation and articles.
