Student answer (Band 5.5)
Today's Growing world suggests the importance of studying subjects like Science and technology rather than studying History, but some people still prefer history as an important subject in school.
In my opinion, both History and today's world subjects like Science and technology are equal.
Every subject has its own importance and demand in every country. Choosing a subject based on the current stereotypical society's perspective can ruin the career of a student. History is a comprehensive and reliable subject for future. For instance, if i take my example; I have chosen humanities stream which includes History as a main subject and i chose it beacuse of its demand in our country and its importance in my future career, but the people in the society pressurizes me to change my subject and study science instead and actually demotivating me for my future.
Understanding that Science and technology are increasing day by day in the current world but it does not mean that the significance of history in the current world will decrease. Science and Technology are in high demand subjects currently. If spoken logically, then the demand of history has decreased because the population of students studying History is more than that of Science. So, to keep the number of students balanced it is more likely preferred for students to choose science instead of history and to balance the number easily.
In conclusion, every student should think properly and choose their subject depending upon their own interests instead of leaning towards the suggestions and opinions of the people in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the prompt asks you to discuss both views and give your own opinion, your discussion of the two subjects remains quite limited. You state your opinion early on, but the development of ideas is restricted and under-developed, particularly when discussing why science and technology are favored or how history holds value. You rely on personal anecdotes and a somewhat generalized argument about societal pressures rather than thoroughly exploring the broader societal and educational implications of studying history versus science and technology. To reach a higher level, you need to extend your arguments with clearer, more fully developed supporting points for both sides of the debate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organization present with an introduction, body, and conclusion, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Ideas are grouped together, but the transitions between them feel disjointed. For example, moving from the personal example of studying humanities directly into a statistical-sounding argument about population balance in paragraph three feels abrupt. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or repetitive; phrases like 'In my opinion' and 'In conclusion' are used, but intermediate cohesive links within the body paragraphs are weak, making the flow somewhat mechanical. To improve, you should ensure each paragraph builds logically on the previous one and use a wider variety of referencing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to communicate your main points. You attempt some less common words and phrases, such as 'comprehensive', 'stereotypical', and 'significance', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that affect precision, such as 'high demand subjects currently' and 'demotivating me'. Additionally, your spelling and word formation contain some slips, like 'beacuse' and 'pressurizes'. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your vocabulary range with more precise academic collocations and ensure greater accuracy in word choice and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader, such as issues with subject-verb agreement ('the demand of history has decreased because the population of students studying History is more than that of Science') and awkward run-on phrasing ('If spoken logically, then the demand of history has decreased...'). Punctuation is also occasionally misused, such as lowercase 'i' instead of 'I'. To move forward, you need to demonstrate a greater mix of accurate complex structures and improve your control over basic grammatical agreements and punctuation.
