Student answer (Band 5.5)
The topic of studying history or today's world subject has become a serious topic of debate. Some people claim that studying history as school subject is more imprtant, while others believe that modern world subject is more beneficial. I will focus on benefits of modern subjects before moving on to look at positive impact of history on students.
To commence, history as a main subject in school is beneficial for students. Through this subject pupils learn who their former leader were and how our society has evolved over time. Without knowing history children can never be able to connect to their cultutral roots. For example, in Pakistan history is added as subject in main course, so students can feel about their roots and should repect their cultural values.
However, studying the modern subject such as science and technology is more crucial. I personaly believe future will be base on technologies. All the inventions such as in medical field on in technology like smartphone, internet, robots and so on, are possible just because of technology and science. Moreover, these subjects prepare students for career opportunities and problem solving skills. For example, in school of Japan teacher assing in which student have to invent something new with the help using different technologies. This kind of activites build the trust and make them more interested towards technologies.
To put it in a nutshell, history is necessary as subject because it connects children with their cultural heritage. I beleive that technologie and science are playing important role in our life and it also important for future career opportunities of students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the importance of history and the significance of modern subjects like science and technology, while also providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the points about history and cultural roots in the second paragraph are somewhat general and under-developed, relying on a brief example regarding Pakistan. Similarly, the arguments for science and technology are relevant but lack depth, showing a tendency to present ideas without fully expanding on them. To reach the next level, the writer needs to extend their arguments with more detailed explanations and more fully developed supporting examples throughout all body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and logical paragraphing is used to separate the different viewpoints. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the text, such as 'To commence', 'However', and 'To put it in a nutshell'. Nevertheless, cohesion can sometimes feel a bit mechanical or formulaic, and referencing is not always completely clear. For example, the transition between ideas in the final paragraph could be smoother. To achieve a higher band, the writer should aim for a more natural flow of ideas between sentences and paragraphs, using a wider variety of cohesive devices without relying on repetitive transitional phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully discussing concepts related to education, history, and technology with words like 'evolved', 'cultural heritage', and 'inventions'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and word formation. Examples of lexical slips include 'imprtant' (spelling), 'today's world subject' (awkward phrasing), 'former leader' (pluralization error), 'cultutral' (spelling), 'base on' (word form), 'technologie' (spelling), and 'assign' instead of assignment. These errors indicate an attempt to use less common vocabulary with some lack of precision. To improve, the writer needs to expand their control of collocations, ensure correct word forms, and pay closer attention to spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences such as 'Without knowing history children can never be able to connect to their cultural roots.' However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly concerning articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include 'as school subject' (missing article), 'former leader' (pluralization error), 'future will be base on' (verb form error), and missing commas in various places. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they occur regularly enough to prevent the writing from reaching a higher category. Greater control over complex sentence structures and grammatical accuracy is needed to progress further.
