Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent time this debate is a hot topic among peers about the relevance of History as subject in the world of Science and and technology. There are some people who belive that History is one the useful subject in School. While others argue this age belongs to subjects like Science and techology considering them more imporatant in school. I agree with the latter group and consider Sciece and technology important over history.
History was long considered most important subject, beacuse it eduacted the kids about the historic events. That changed the course of histroy itself. For instance, when I first learned about the Golden age of Islam, my curoisty about the knowledge of that era rose. I spent days learning about the major discoveries of that time.
People who were in favour of Science and technoloy got vaild stance as this age future belongs to Science and tehnology. When students starts learning about the technologies of future in the early age, it makes them more creative. I was lost in reserach for days when I first learned about computers in school, exploring their benefical daily usage this stil helps me today to be more productive.
In my opinion, both of these subjects are necessery for school going kids, as history keeps them linked to their past, where the worlds has come from stone age, and Science and technology invokes the curosity in them that helps generating new ideas. But Science and technology takes a lead here, as it enables the students to unlock the serects of universe. It was all this curiosty that leads to the modern global and digitally connected world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the importance of history and the rising prominence of science and technology—while providing a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For example, while the discussion on the value of history touches on personal curiosity about the Golden Age of Islam, it remains somewhat limited and could be extended further. The conclusion introduces a nuanced perspective by suggesting both are necessary, but the overall stance tilts toward science and technology without fully exploring the counter-arguments at length. This balance between addressing all prompts yet leaving certain arguments slightly under-developed places the task achievement firmly at this level, demonstrating competence with clear potential for more fully extended support in future essays.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a concluding stance. Information and ideas are generally organized in a logical sequence, such as moving from the definition of the debate to history, then to science and technology, and finally to a synthesized conclusion. Nevertheless, cohesion at times feels mechanical or repetitive, particularly in how paragraphs are linked and how referencing is handled, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences like 'That changed the course of history itself.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct themes, but the flow between sentences can occasionally be disjointed. To progress, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother logical transitions from one paragraph to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used provides an adequate range for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly regarding education and technology. There are, however, noticeable spelling errors and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'belive', 'imporatant', 'Sciece', 'curoisty', 'tehnology', 'starts', 'reserach', 'benefical', 'stil', 'necessery', 'serects', and 'curiosty'. The writer attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'prominence' or academic phrasing, but these spelling and lexical slips slightly impede precision. While communication is never severely blocked and the vocabulary is sufficient to complete the task, eliminating these recurring mechanical spelling mistakes and choosing more precise collocations will be essential for moving into higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. There are, however, several errors in grammar, articles, and pluralization, such as 'In recent time this debate is a hot topic', 'History as subject', 'one the useful subject', 'When students starts', and 'where the worlds has come from'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede overall communication. The punctuation and sentence structures show a basic level of control, satisfying the requirements for a mix of forms while still containing persistent flaws. To achieve a higher band, the writer must increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and exercise closer attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage.
