Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that History is one of the major subjects studing in the school, whereas others maintain that Science and technology are practicaly more important than History. While there are convincing arguments on both sides of the issue, I believe that subjects like Science and technology have high importance for present and future.
One of the main arguments in favour of History as major subject is that it provide individuals and students a dip knowledge of our culture and heritage. They tell us how humans live in the past, a beliefs on out tredition, tempals, and culture. For example, India has many tempals and historic books which provide its sucesess and excellent past. Morover, history explain why our law, governments and societies look the way they do today. There are a many law and tradistion we follow from our history lead to, change the way socity behave or react to situations.
On the othe hand, those who support Science and technology subjects agree that it provide information of advance technology and economic growth. As in 21 century science has become important in day to day life, this subjects teach students about new inventions and how it effect countries economic growth. Furthermore, at the end of study technology is something individuals need to aknowloadage for high achivements and future sucesess. For instance, today job market is asking for AI knowledge no matter what is your field or professions.
In conclusion, while History and Science both has its own benefits for students but, i personaly recommende Science and technology should be taught as a major subjects. Because, its will be needed for present t development knowledge and for future job market.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on the importance of history versus science and technology, while also presenting a clear personal position throughout the essay. The main ideas are generally relevant, covering aspects such as cultural heritage for history and economic growth and artificial intelligence for modern science. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or briefly stated, preventing a higher score. For instance, the points about laws, governments, and traditions in the second paragraph are raised but lack extended explanation or concrete examples compared to the stronger, more contemporary illustrations provided for science. The position is well-sustained to the end, but pushing into the higher band would require deeper elaboration and more fully realised supporting arguments for both viewpoints.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are coherently sequenced, moving naturally from an introduction to balanced body paragraphs discussing each perspective, and finally concluding with a restated personal opinion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each main idea housed in its own distinct paragraph. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the main arguments', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are employed effectively to guide the reader through the text. Referencing is generally clear, and although minor mechanical transitions appear occasionally, the overall arrangement creates a cohesive and easily navigable flow that meets the expected standard for this level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'cultural heritage', 'economic growth', and 'professions'. However, the vocabulary is constrained by noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the response. Examples of lexical slips include 'studing' instead of studying, 'practicaly' instead of practically, 'dip knowledge' instead of deep knowledge, 'tredition' instead of tradition, 'tempals' instead of temples, 'aknowloadage' instead of acknowledge, and 'achivements' instead of achievements. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency restricts the precision and natural flow of the writing, keeping the lexical score at this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional and concessive clauses such as 'While there are convincing arguments on both sides...' and '...no matter what is your field or professions.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'History... are' and 'it provide', missing articles, and awkward phrasing such as 'history lead to, change the way socity behave'. However, these errors rarely impede overall communication. The control of grammar is characteristic of a developing writer who can produce a mixture of error-free sentences and faulty complex structures, ensuring the meaning remains clear despite the persistent grammatical slips.
