Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowaday, many people believe that history is one of the most important subject for students. However some argues that there many subjects which are more important rather than history. I believe that subjects such as science and technology are more important. This essay will discuss both views in the upcoming paragraph.

On the one hand, history subject is important because with the help of history we can get enogh knowledge such as about the animals and historical buildings. For instance, a completely extinct species is dinosaur and we cannot see anywhere but in history books we can read about the dinosaur such as about their diet and body shape.

On the other hand, science and technology are very important nowadays to build a bettrer carreer. To elaborate, technolgy has become a trend in every field and people prefer to learn about technology more because to get a better job, technological skills are very important. For example, having the information about technology can be beneficial for individuals, they can get a good position in firm. In addition, many students want to become doctor, engineer and scientist and it would be possible to read subjects like science and mathematics.

Thus it can be concluded that subjects like science and tecnology can be beneicial for students who want get a higher degree, while the benefits of history can not be overlooked.

In my opinion science and tecnology are veri important to learn because in future this can be benefuit

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task partially, as it discusses both views and provides an opinion, but the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding history is underdeveloped and factually confused, using dinosaurs as an example of historical buildings and animals rather than ancient civilizations or events. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 246 words, falling slightly short of the 250-word minimum. The position is stated, but the support lacks depth and clarity, resulting in a somewhat repetitive discussion that does not fully explore the complexities of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident with basic paragraphing and standard cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the essay, and the conclusion feels abrupt and incomplete. Referencing and linking between sentences are occasionally repetitive or mechanical, such as the repeated use of 'science and technology' and connector phrases that do not always ensure smooth conceptual flow from one paragraph to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'Nowaday', 'enogh', 'bettrer', 'carreer', 'technolgy', 'beneicial', 'tecnology', and 'veri', along with awkward collocations like 'having the information about technology'. These lexical errors and limited range sometimes cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control of word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are often faulty, such as in the final sentence 'in future this can be benefuit' which is grammatically incomplete. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'some argues' and 'there many subjects', missing articles, and incorrect prepositions. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the grammatical control to a basic level.
