Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is undeniable fact that history is considered to be one of the most crucial subject in education as meant by a part of society while others believe that science and technology is equally relevant in this contemporary world. This essay will discuss both the views before drawing a plausible conclusion.
One should get a deep understanding of the past incidents to get a knowledge about their ancestors. Firstly, historical understanding play a vital role in telling the sacrifices made by previous generations to provide modern youth a stress free era. For instance, many countries are living freely just because of the winning wars fought by their ancestors. This also motivates present generation to do something for the betterment of society so as to respect the contribution of people who lived in the past. Also, historical studies will help us to remain rooted to our cultures and values without forgetting anything.
On the other hand, science and technology are also benefitting this present-day world. The first and foremost point is the increasing modernization. To explain this, most of the work today is done with the help of technology. Hence, getting acquainted with science and technology is must. Furthermore, scientific understanding will completely explain the unethical olden methods of curing diseases and mould it into something that can be explained by believable points. Other than that all of the industrial jobs are now being digitalized and getting a scoring interview requires general knowledge on basic computer graphics and tools.
All in all, both history as well as science and technology imparts better education of the world and its doings. Therefore, all these subject should be taught in same amount for the overall development of a child.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear opinion in the conclusion: history and science and technology should receive equal attention. The history paragraph offers relevant reasons, including learning about past sacrifices and preserving cultural values, while the other side explains technology’s role in modern work and healthcare. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that ancestors’ victories allow countries to live freely would be stronger with a specific historical example and a clearer link to why this matters in school education. The point about computer skills and interviews is also brief. Develop each main idea with a concrete example and explain its significance to make the discussion more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “All in all” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, ideas generally progress from a main claim to supporting points. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. For instance, “This also motivates present generation” does not clearly identify what “This” refers to, and the move from healthcare to industrial jobs in the science paragraph feels abrupt. The repeated use of signposting phrases can also make the progression somewhat mechanical. Use clearer references and add brief linking explanations to show how each supporting point relates to the paragraph’s central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “historical understanding,” “modernization,” “scientific understanding,” and “overall development.” These choices allow you to discuss education, culture, work, and technology. You also attempt more formal expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural in context, such as “stress free era,” “believable points,” and “getting a scoring interview.” There are also word-form or collocation issues in phrases such as “increasing modernization” and “industrial jobs are now being digitalized.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they reduce precision. Prefer common, accurate collocations and check whether a phrase expresses the intended meaning before choosing a more elaborate alternative.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including purpose clauses (“so as to respect…”) and a conditional structure (“just because of the winning wars…”). Most sentences communicate their main meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “historical understanding play” needs subject–verb agreement, and “science and technology is” should agree with the plural subject. Articles and plurals also need attention in “one of the most crucial subject” and “is must.” In the final sentence, “both history as well as science and technology imparts” has an agreement problem, and “all these subject” needs a plural form. Review agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms, especially in longer sentences, while continuing to vary your structures.
