Student answer (Band 5.0)

History is important subject , people say this because they have different opinion about it . Some people don't think in the same way . History plays important role in each format of life , no matter what the topic is . It is connected in every evolution that has every happned .

Firstly , in todays world it is essential to know what is behind the specific evolution and how particular research took place . History is not just about the war and partition of the countries , but about the development & back story about research . In todays life history is taught to student in school but it's about war , partition , and how empire developed . The history about culture , drastic changes , researches ...etc are not mentioned . For further knowledge a student has to select their education field accordingly .

Secondly , science and technology is also important in todays life as currently every thing works and deals with technology . More attention is given to science and technology , which is not acceptable by few people as main focus has switched . I think that it is true that the importance is given to science and technology as today's world needs more doctors and technological developers . More and more development is done in order to have more and more availablity of new research and technology .

To conclude ; history, science and , technology is important to know but its not neccessary to give an individual subject more importance .Rather then reducing the work and learning of a particular subject , just study about each subject equally .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides by discussing History’s role in understanding research and the current importance of science and technology. Your own view appears in the conclusion: subjects should be studied equally. However, the discussion is only partly developed. For example, you say History helps explain “how particular research took place,” but do not give a specific example or explain how this knowledge benefits students. The point that today’s world needs more doctors and technology developers is relevant, but it is asserted rather than supported. Your position also emerges most clearly at the end, while the opening mainly repeats that people have different opinions. State your view clearly in the introduction and develop each side with a concrete example and explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. These paragraph divisions help readers identify the two perspectives. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the links between ideas can feel mechanical. In the first body paragraph, the discussion moves from research to school history lessons and then to choosing an education field without explaining the connections. The conclusion repeats the main topic but does not clearly summarise the reasoning that leads to equal emphasis. Some linking phrases, such as “More and more,” repeat rather than advance the argument. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “evolution,” “research,” “partition,” “empire,” and “technological developers,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. For instance, “every format of life” and “the development & back story about research” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “availability of new research” is also an awkward combination. Spelling errors such as “happned,” “availablity,” and “neccessary” further affect accuracy. Aim for precise academic phrases and check spelling, while avoiding informal shorthand such as “&” and “etc.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including “History is not just about the war and partition … but about the development…” and a sentence beginning “I think that it is true…”. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation can make the reader pause. Examples include “History is important subject,” “science and technology is,” and “history, science and, technology is important.” The opening also contains a comma splice between “subject” and “people say this,” while inconsistent spacing and punctuation make sentence boundaries less clear. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with clear clauses and correct agreement, articles, and punctuation.
