Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals believe that History is one of the most essential subjects. while other citizens think that nowadays subjects like Science and technology are more valueable than History.
There are several reasons to teach student's History. Firstly, the most important one is to give students knowledge about their country's territory. where students can learn about their ancestores. in addition to that pupils can understand the importance of freedome by seeing the sacrifices made by the worriors of country to protect their future generation. for instance, Indian students leaning about their countries unsung heroes such as Bagat singh, Sardar patel and many more. what they did to keep the country safe from britishers or to keep the country unite in a situation where everyone tried to leave the country to save their lives. as a result it could ended as the partition of India. Consequently, these stories can create an emotion of patriotism in students.
On the other hand, Many parents have that point of view that teaching History is an unnecessary task. which can leads to extra stress on pupils as there are already alot of subjects for students to learn. on the top of that many have that belief that the History is very unlikely to be helpfull for their kid's future. in contrast, Science and technology can be enough to make their child industry ready. because they can use their scintific knowledge in their real life unlike History. for example, when a student learns subjects like chemistry and physics he tend to use it in his real life whereas the History cannot be used practicaly.
According to me, The History is equally important for student as it can add an emotion of love for the nation in every leaners. therefore it is as important as science and technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear personal view: History can foster patriotism, while Science and technology are presented as more directly useful in working life. The examples about Indian independence figures and applying chemistry or physics help make the arguments relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The History paragraph explains its emotional and national value, but the opposing view is mostly framed as parents’ beliefs and would benefit from a fuller explanation of how scientific or technological study prepares students for specific careers or everyday challenges. Your conclusion repeats your position but could synthesise the two arguments more clearly. Develop the less-supported points with explanation and a specific example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The progression from the value of national history to the practical benefits of science is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “According to me” make the organisation visible. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and also shows some stronger control through distinct paragraphing and a logical sequence. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, with several transitions clustered together, such as “in addition to that,” “as a result,” and “Consequently.” Some sentence fragments after full stops also interrupt the flow, for example “where students can learn about their ancestors.” Use fewer formulaic connectors and connect related clauses more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “sacrifices,” “patriotism,” “industry ready,” and “scientific knowledge,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as the role of history in understanding national independence. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spellings reduce precision: “territory” does not convey the intended idea of national history, “more valuable” is misspelled, and “use it practicaly” is not a natural expression. Repetition of “important,” “students,” and “country” also limits flexibility. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocation; this will make your arguments clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “whereas,” and “as,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “which can leads to extra stress” has an incorrect verb form, while “when a student learns subjects like chemistry and physics he tend to use it” contains problems with agreement and pronoun reference. Several sentence fragments follow full stops, including “where students can learn about their ancestors” and “because they can use their scientific knowledge.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, especially after full stops and before sentence openings. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and punctuation when editing.
