Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both perspectives and give a clear final view that History and science and technology should both remain compulsory. Relevant examples include learning from past conflicts and using medical technology to diagnose disease. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the benefits of History are listed rather than explained in depth, and the case for science and technology is supported mainly by one example. The opening says “including me,” but your position is not clearly established until the conclusion. The response also falls short of the required 250 words: it contains 244 words, and the nine words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each side with a fuller explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main contrast, and the medical example is placed with the discussion of technology. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, with several ideas joined into long strings, particularly in the History paragraph. Connectors such as “moreover,” “also,” and “secondly” are sometimes mechanical or incorrectly punctuated, and “conclusion” does not clearly signal a complete concluding sentence. Use one main point per paragraph, develop it in a logical order, and use linking phrases selectively. Clearer referencing would also help readers see how each example supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “old civilization,” “traditions and customs,” “challenges,” and “diagnose any disease.” These choices make the main ideas understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the more advancement era,” “the up and downs came,” and “remain it easy to us.” Repetition of “important,” “subject,” and “science and technology” also limits flexibility. Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider set of terms, for example, “technological progress,” “historical events,” and “make diagnosis easier.” Check word forms and spelling, including “equipment's,” which is not the correct form for the uncountable noun “equipment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response includes some subordinate clauses, such as “how our leaders faced the challenges.” However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “Somebody think” instead of subject–verb agreement, “this essay we will discuss” without a subject or article, and “science and technology are also helps us,” which combines incompatible verb forms. Sentence boundaries and capitalization are also inconsistent: “secondly.” begins a new sentence with a lowercase letter, while several long sentences need clearer punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a correctly formed supporting clause, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
