Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is no doubt that schools play a major role in educating crucial subjects to their students. Although, while some believe that history ought to be must taught subject in schools, I would agree with those who argue that Science and technology are more essential subjects than history.
Firstly, it is vital that schools must provide historical knowledge to their students. This is because it teaches them the evolution of society over the period of time. This changes could be like the lifestyles of people back then and also the problems they used to face. This helps students relate present conditions of soceity and improve it more efficiently. For instance, how farming methodologies were practiced before and how to optimize them in current industry.
However, I beleive that teaching Science and technology subjects at school could impact positively in both individuals and soceity. As science supports factual knowledge which can improve critical thinking in students. Not only that but also how to solve any real-world issues that are occuring in the society. Therefore, schools must focus on teaching science and technology subject to foster students career and also build new innovations in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a clear preference for science and technology, and you do discuss both subjects: history is linked to understanding social change, while science is connected to critical thinking and solving real-world problems. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the ideas are brief and under-developed. For example, the farming example is mentioned but not explained, and the benefits of science are asserted rather than illustrated with a specific example. The history viewpoint also needs fuller explanation of why it is considered especially important. The response is 56 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop both sides and support your opinion. Extend each main point with explanation and a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about history, and a paragraph about science and technology. Sequencing is generally understandable, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “However,” and “Therefore” help show the movement between ideas. However, the overall progression is limited because there is no concluding paragraph to restate your position, and the body paragraphs contain few developed links between claims and examples. Some connections are unclear, as in “This changes could be like,” where the reference to historical knowledge is difficult to follow. Build each paragraph around one clear claim, explain it, and then connect a specific example to it; finish with a concise conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “historical knowledge,” “evolution of society,” “critical thinking,” and “real-world issues.” These choices show an attempt to discuss education and the practical value of different subjects. However, the range is somewhat limited, and several word-choice, spelling, or collocation problems reduce precision: “must taught subject,” “farming methodologies,” and “build new innovations” are not natural expressions, while “soceity” and “beleive” are misspelled. Repetition of “subjects,” “students,” and “society” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate collocations such as “a compulsory subject,” “farming methods,” and “develop innovations,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concession in the introduction (“Although, while some believe…”) and a cause-and-effect structure (“This is because…”). Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors occur in sentence construction and grammatical patterns. For example, “Although, while” combines two linking structures awkwardly, “history ought to be must taught” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “This changes could be” has a demonstrative and agreement problem. The fragment “As science supports factual knowledge…” is also not a complete sentence, while “schools must focus on teaching science and technology subject” has a number error. Practise complete clause structures, modal verb patterns, and agreement, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
